Best Ever Premier League Goal of all time?

The upcoming season will be the 25th edition of the Premier League and we’re taking a look back over the last quarter of a century at some of the highlights and lowlights of the best league in the world.

Here we look at some of the best goals in the Premier League. It was difficult to narrow down a shortlist, so we’ve added some honourable mentions for you to look at. If you like goals, then watch the videos.

Paul Scholes vs. Aston Villa (2006)

Many teams try moves from corners, but none are better than Scholes’ effort against Aston Villa.

Henry vs. Man Utd (2000)

Thierry Henry made everything look so effortless, this is simply a magnificent effort from one of Arsenal’s greatest ever players.

Eric Cantona vs Sunderland (1996)

Ooohhh la la. King Cantona scored some great goals, but the fact that this one is still being shown 20 years on says everything you need to know.

Gus Poyet vs. Sunderland (1999)

There was life at Stamford Bridge before Roman Abramovich, as Gus Poyet and Gianfranco Zola showed against Sunderland.

Matthew Le Tissier vs. Newcastle (1993)

A largely forgotten goal due to the fact that it happened so long ago and one that’s from a more graceful age.

Alan Shearer vs. Everton (2002)

You can’t have a Best Ever Premier League goal list without mentioning the man who’s scored 260 of them. Some of them were outstanding, just a shame the celebrations didn’t befit the efforts.

Dennis Bergkamp vs. Newcastle (2002)

Such grace, such technique, such skill, something that Arsenal fans long to see again. One of the great goals.

Paolo Di Canio vs. Wimbledon (2000)

West Ham fans hadn’t seen a goal like this since Trevor Brooking, but Di Canio rightfully won Goal of the Season in 2000.

Rooney vs. Newcastle (2005)

Capitalising on a poor clearance from the Newcastle defence, Wayne Rooney showed why he’s the best English player of his generation with this effort.

Tony Yeboah vs. Liverpool (1995)

Another classic goal from the early years of the Premier League, Yeboah gained cult status at Elland Road with this effort.

Honourable Mentions

There’s been over 15,000 goals scored in the Premier League and it was harsh to exclude some of these efforts. Here are some honourable mentions.

Dimitri Payet vs. Crystal Palace (2016)

No free kick has ever had more dip on it. A fantastic goal from Payet.

Peter Crouch vs. Manchester City (2012)

6 years after the infamous robot celebration came this effort. And yes, Crouch has scored a goal with his feet, rather than just his head.

Sergio Aguero vs. QPR (2012)

Forever remembered by Martin Tyler’s commentary and the fact that this goal won the Premier League for Manchester City.

Robin Van Persie vs. Aston Villa (2013)

When he wasn’t injured, Van Persie scored some fantastic goals, but this one might go down as the best of the lot.

Pajtim Kasami vs. Crystal Palace (2013)

A rare sign of quality from Kasami, who was part of the Fulham side that got relegated in the 2013/14 season.

Danny Rose vs. Arsenal (2010)

There aren’t many better ways to win a North London derby than Danny Rose’s effort in 2010.

Stan Collymore vs. Newcastle (1996)

It’s only right that the best game ever in the Premier League featured one of the best goals.

Thierry Henry vs. Tottenham (2002)

Henry terrorised Spurs in his playing career and this might go down as one of his best goals at Highbury.

Jack Wilshere vs. Norwich (2013)

A great team goal.
