Preview: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Gent – Team News, Odds, Tips and Predictions

21-02-2017 - Harry Kane - Tottenham Bpi - Icon Sport
Tottenham must overturn a one goal deficit if they are to stand any chance of qualifying for the next stage of the Europa League.

After Spurs thumped Fulham in the FA Cup at the weekend, confidence will be high amongst the team and Mauricio Pochettino has urged supporters to get behind them when they play at Wembley on Thursday.

Jeremy Perbet’s goal put the Belgian side ahead in the tie last week, but Gent are struggling in their domestic league, sitting in eighth place and they’ve won just one of their last five league fixtures.

Team News

Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are all expected to start in this crucial Europa League fixture. Jan Vertonghen played 90 minutes at Craven Cottage at the weekend and is expected to play again, while Kyle Walker and Mousa Dembele will replace Kieran Trippier and Harry Winks.

Both Danny Rose and Erik Lamela are out with injuries.

Stats

  • Spurs have won just one of their last four European games against Belgian sides.
  • Tottenham have lost five of their last six matches played at Wembley, but did beat CSKA Moscow there in December.
