Tottenham Hotspur vs. Juventus Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Preview

Iconsport

The second leg of Tottenham’s Champions League last 16 tie takes place on Wednesday night, with Spurs favourites to progress after an incredible comeback in the first leg.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side went 2-0 down in the first 10 minutes at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, but rallied to end the game with a 2-2 draw thanks to strikes from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen. Those two away goals put Spurs in pole position to qualify for the quarter finals and knock out a Juventus side who’ve made it to two finals in the last three years.

Juventus made a blistering start to the tie after Gonzalo Higuain scored a penalty after two minutes, but it’s a missed penalty that could end up being the difference between the two sides. That missed penalty knocked the stuffing out of the Italian side and they eventually capitulated and conceded twice and are now at a disadvantage.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Juventus Predictions

Based on Tottenham’s performance in the first leg and their record at Wembley in this year’s Champions League, they’re deserved favourites to progress to the quarter finals. Scoring two away goals, particularly in Italy, is a fantastic achievement and a strong showing on Wednesday night will see them safely qualify for the next round.

Jan Vertonghen could start for Spurs in the defence, but they’ll be without Toby Alderweireld, who’s out injured. Serge Aurier will also miss out through suspension. Mousa Dembele is a slight doubt, with Victor Wanyama expected to replace him if he doesn’t pass a late fitness test.

Juventus Team News

Gonzalo Higuain is expected to shake off an injury in time for Wednesday’s game, but Federico Bernardeschi is definitely out. Joining Bernardeschi on the sideline with injury is Juan Cuadrado and Mattia de Sciglio.
