It’s a whole new Premier season! Everything has changed, anything is possible and – I’m sorry? Manchester City are on top already? Oh well, never mind then. Despite Man United and Liverpool both putting in a dominant four-goal performances to open the season, City just had to go one better and settle into what must now be their comfortable spot in first place. City decimated West Ham, with Raheem Sterling bagging a hat-trick, Gabriel Jesus opening the scoring 25 minutes in and Sergio Aguero adding a late penalty.
Spurs didn’t have quite such an easy time of it, only managing to scrape together a paltry three goals against West Ham, the poor dears. They left that late enough as it was, after John McGinn scored for the Hammers after 9 minutes. It wasn’t until the 73rd minute that Tanguy Ndombele equalised, and both of Harry Kane’s goals came after the 85th minute. Now they’re languishing down in 6th place after such a pitiful performance. Surely calls for Pochettino’s firing are moments away. Fortunately, they have an opportunity to redeem themselves on Saturday. That, or City extend their lead a little more.

Even though it’s early in the season, City have set out their intentions early: crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of their fans. Obviously, they are huge favourites which means that the most faithful of Spurs followers might fancy a flutter with such long odds. While a City victory seems likely, both teams will be looking to continue the blazing start they’ve had to the season. Either way, the chances are good that there will be plenty of goals.
