Chelsea v Manchester City Predictions and Betting Tips

The big games come thick and fast are following hot on the heels of Everton v Liverpool is Chelsea v Manchester City on Thursday evening (kick off 8.15pm).

These two clubs have enjoyed plenty of success domestically in the past 15 years and this should certainly be a match to savour.

Neither side will be able to catch Liverpool in search of another league title but there is still plenty for both sides to play for, including those coveted Champions League places.

Chelsea currently sit in fourth but top three would actually represent a very decent return for manager Frank Lampard in his first full season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

However, this is going to be a very tough task against a well-drilled City side in what should be an enthralling game.

Chelsea v Manchester City Predictions

Both teams will be determined to finish this campaign on a high note so a win is imperative for either side to cement their Champions League spots.

City eased to a 3-0 win against Arsenal last week and ex-Chelsea player Kevin de Bruyne was instrumental in that victory. Chelsea are going to need to keep a close eye on him or he could cause some serious damage.

The Blues have attacking threats of their own with the likes of Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic and new kid on the block, Billy Gilmour. They will certainly pose problems for a City defence which can throw in the odd clanger. Pulisic showed his form with a goal in their 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

However, we think City will just edge this one as they bid to firm up second place in the Premier League.

The Blues are boosted by the return of Jorginho, who has served a two-match suspension and is now available for selection.

Possible team: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Marcos Alonso, Ross Barkley, Billy Gilmour, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, Willian.

City have doubts over Eric Garcia after he was stretchered off following a collision with goalkeeper Ederson in City’s 3-0 win over Arsenal. If Garcia isn’t fit, Nicolas Otamendi is likely to deputise.

Possible team: Ederson, Kyle Walker, Aymeric Laporte, Nicolas Otamendi, Bernard Mendy, David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, Riyad Mahrez.
