Chelsea vs Manchester City Preview

We’ve got a clash of the titans this weekend in a match where first play fifth in a Cup game of massive significance. City’s noisy neighbours United won the treble back in 1999, but no team has ever been this close to a quadruple before. They’ve got the league title essentially in the bag, have a Champions League semi-final on the horizon and are weeks out from the League Cup Final. However, Thomas Tuchel has Chelsea looking like a whole new team since his arrival, and he won’t be letting his side go down without a fight.

Both sides are coming off the back of progression in the Champions League, and will be confident of their ability to book another Wembley trip.

The match’s kick-off was moved due to the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, but will be played at 5.30 PM on Saturday evening at the national stadium.

Chelsea vs Manchester City odds

Chelsea are pretty heavy underdogs at 19/5 for victory, while Manchester City 4/5 favourites for the win. Don’t forget that this is a cup game, so if the game goes to extra-time and you’ve betted on a win either side, you’ve lost. The draw over 90 minutes is a 5/2 shot, and Chelsea are 9/5 to go through by any method, with Man City at 10/23.

Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

Chelsea to qualify – 9/5

There’s a solid chance that neither one of these sides will be able to figure the other out over the 90 minutes, and if the Blues are to go through, they may need full-time. Both sides have heavy run-ins and won’t want to spend another half an hour in a high-intensity environment. However, extra-time would likely benefit the underdogs more, so they possibly could go through on the long-haul.

Manchester City to win and both teams to score – 49/20

Last time these two played, Manchester City won within 90 minutes back in January, and both teams scored. Only twice since the start of December Pep Guardiola’s team have failed to score, both times against their local rivals Manchester United. There’s a reason why both of these sides are so far ahead of the pack, and we can’t imagine that City will be beaten without at least getting a goal. However, we could definitely see Chelsea taking the lead, so we reckon there’s value in Man City winning within 90 minutes with both sides scoring.

Segio Aguero to score anytime – 5/4

It’s hard to imagine that such a big game won’t have some involvement from the legendary striker, and we fancy him getting at least one of the game’s goals.
