Finally, after a year of delays, it is time for Euro 2020, and who better to start us off than 2012 finalists Italy and Turkey?
This is a fascinating matchup between two teams, despite the odds tipping heavily in favour of Italy. Turkey are pretty substantial underdogs, but we’ve definitely seen stranger things happen at the European Championships over the years.
Şenol Güneş’s side took four points from a possible six against world champions France in qualifying, and a lot of people are looking at their 50/1 price to pull off an upset on the scale of Greece 2004 and thinking it looks worth a flutter.
To do that, they’d probably need a good result in Rome, which is definitely not beyond their reach, but will be a very difficult ask. Roberto Mancini’s team are on a 27-game unbeaten streak, and won 22 of those. There’s a reason these odds are so wide, but there is definitely still value to be found.

Turkey are substantial underdogs away from home in this game which bookies seem to think is a foregone conclusion. They’re 7/1 for victory, with the draw a 59/20 shot and Italy pretty heavy, but not unbackable in a multi-bet, favourites at 20/39.

Tie or Turkey to win, double chance – 8/5
We really like the price on this one. Mancini’s side wouldn’t need to have a particularly bad day at the office to draw with this particular Turkey side, who are decent on their day and were able to get a draw with a far superior side in France. If they can hold the line, and maybe sneak a goal, then why couldn’t Turkey win or get a draw here? And while their odds for a win are so massive at 7/1, this bet seems really worthwhile.
Ciro Immobile to score anytime – evens
Immobile is definitely a contender for the golden boot at Euro 2020, and he’ll want to get off to a good start in his home country. The Italian striker had a little injury scare in training, but is in full health and as such will be seeing this as a big opportunity. He’s 31-years-old, and will be seeing this as probably his last Euros, and maybe his penultimate major tournament after the world cup next year in Qatar.

This seems like a really good bet at the price, which could net you £20 if you put just £5 on. There are goals on either side of this game, and Italy probably will win it in the end, so why not put a small bet on this?
