Ryder Cup Preview

The 43rd Ryder Cup is one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year and this edition should be no different to the previous 42. Whistling Straits in Wisconsin is the location for this biennial battle between Europe and USA and Team USA are the hot favourites to regain the trophy after losing heavily in Paris last time out.

They have arguably their strongest team ever assembled for this event, which takes place at a course which could suit their big hitters. However, Europe have only lost two Ryder Cups since 1999 and despite their underdogs tag, they will always be a tough nut to crack on either side of the Atlantic.

Can Europe retain the Ryder Cup in the red-hot cauldron of the Midwest? Or can Team USA dominate like they did at Hazeltine in 2016?

Ryder Cup Odds

USA are 1/2 (1.50) to win the Ryder Cup, with Europe at 2/1 (3.00) and the tie at 12/1 (13.00).

Ryder Cup Betting Tips

We have three fantastic tips that we think could be the way to go at the 43rd edition of the Ryder Cup. On top of our three tips below, we are also running a superb Ryder Cup promotion at NetBet. You can place a £10 single on Team Europe or Team USA and you get a £2 Free Bet for every point your selection wins by.

Here are our three tips for what should be a riveting Ryder Cup:-

Top Captain’s Pick Points Scorer – Jordan Spieth (4.50)

The charismatic Texan has already got three Majors under his belt at the tender age of 28 and, after a quiet couple of years, he is back to somewhere near his best. He one of the best putters in the world, which you need in this competition, and forged a brilliant partnership with Justin Thomas in Paris despite the team losing heavily. Spieth’s partnership with Thomas will rack up a few points and he will thrive in home conditions.

Top Team Europe Points Scorer – Tommy Fleetwood (9.50)

Fleetwood had a Ryder Cup debut to remember at Le Golf National three years ago. He played all five matches and forged an amazing partnership with Francesco Molinari, winning four points out of four before losing in the singles to Tony Finau. Fleetwood has had a quiet year by his high standards but has shown glimpses of his old form in the his past two tournaments. Despite Molinari not qualifying, he could form a top-quality foursomes partnership with fellow Englishman, Lee Westwood and his phenomenal tee-to-green game should be key at Whistling Straits.

Top Team USA Points Scorer – Patrick Cantlay (8.50)

This market could have been narrowed down to three or four but we plumped for Cantlay, and he is arguably the form player in the world right now. Cantlay might be a rookie but he has won his last two tournaments, including being crowned FedEx champion after a superb success in the Tour Championship at East Lake. The 29-year-old is likely to form a formidable partnership with fellow rookie and good friend, Xander Schauffele, and Cantlay has no weakness in his game. He hits it long and accurately, has a killer short game and holes putts from anywhere on the green. He will be a tough opponent for Team Europe to face this week. Alongside that, we have boosted Cantlay’s price to 9.00! Check this out on our NetBet Boosts page!
