T20 World Cup 2021 betting tips

We understand that the odds have it that the most likely outcome is for India to fly out of the traps and take this year’s tournament having lost out in 2019 to the West Indies. The West Indies became the first two-time winners of the trophy when they beat England after an historic Brathwaite performance that saw them win by four wickets with two balls left after trailing by 18 runs with 19 overs behind them. However, they are 6/1 to reclaim that title, given that India have looked much better in white ball cricket over the last couple of years during the pandemic era. You have to wonder how quarantine rules and the coronavirus will affect teams, although we’re sure that all necessary precautions will be in place to stop any outbreaks.

In terms of the England team, we reckon that they have a great chance of winning this tournament, and they’re ranked as second favourites behind India to take home the trophy. They’ll be without the injured Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Sam Curran, as well as Test captain Joe Root who has taken a brief break from T20 to focus on his commitments with the Ashes on the horizon. They’re top of the T20 rankings, so we believe that there is a solid chance of a big tournament.

In terms of other markets, we’d be remiss if we didn’t back Virat Kohli to become the tournament’s top batsman. He’s an impressive player at this level, and it’s hard to imagine even the likes of Rohit Sharma or Jonny Bairstow catching him in this market, and at a price of 7/1 it’s definitely worth a look. KL Rahul is an interesting outside bet at 20/1, although we understand why his odds are so wide and we’d be surprised if he could pull this one off!
