Premier League Betting Preview – Match Week 8

Our expert tipster at NetBet has cast their eye over another exciting weekend of Premier League fixtures as English football returns from the international break. He’s picked some of the best bets available on NetBet Sport football odds page.

Liverpool to draw with Watford – 17/4

It’s been a strange time to be a fan of both of these sides this season, particularly Watford. They haven’t even had the worst start to the year, but poor Xisco Munoz was only given seven games before getting the boot, and he’s been replaced by the legendary former Leicester City, Inter Milan and Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri. Of course, everybody will recall what Ranieri was able to do with Leicester in 2015/16 in a season where a number of experts predicted they would be fighting relegation, but he faces a tough task against a second place Liverpool team who at times have been looking like their 2019/20 Premier League champion selves. We’d recommend setting your alarms for this 12.30AM kick-off, it’s going to be tasty.

Aston Villa to beat Wolves – 6/5

It’s something of a Midlands derby this week as Aston Villa take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park this weekend in one of the Saturday 3PM kick-offs. The odds in this game are quite high, with all outcomes earning you an above evens price if you get the victory. Only one point separates these two sides, but it has seemed that the best Villa side we’ve got this year has been considerably better than the best Wolves one. It’s hard to back Wolves, although the draw at 11/5 may be worth a gamble at the price.

Man City to beat Burnley – 1/8

We’ve seen a few really interesting Manchester City fixtures this year, but this likely won’t be one of them. It’s geographically very close to being a derby, and there will surely be some bad blood, but ultimately Pep Guardiola’s side just have to have too much for Burnley, and we expect them to handily get a result here. We aren’t the only ones who believe that, just look at the odds! City are, rightfully, being tipped to retain their Premier League title, despite that bizarre opening day loss to Tottenham. They need to be beating teams like Burnley if they want to overtake Chelsea and Liverpool who are currently sitting ahead of them in the table, although the table doesn’t generally mean much at this stage of the season.

Manchester United to beat Leicester City – 21/20

It’s an interesting clash at the King Power Stadium this Saturday afternoon as Leicester City play host to Manchester United. This fixture is one of those games that would have been a whole lot more exciting last season when both were flying high, but there are still a lot of intriguing factors at play here. The hosts have really struggled this year, while United have been hit and miss at various stages of the year, such as two weeks ago before players headed off to their countries. Everton and Crystal Palace picked up points against United and City respectively, and there is a chance this game could end up being a big kicking off point for whoever wins this game. Our NetBet win probability counter has this one as a relatively even clash, with United considerably favoured at 46% and the hosts at 28%, with a draw pretty close at 26%.

Brighton to beat Norwich – 11/10

Somehow, some way, Brighton and Hove Albion are just two points behind league table leaders Liverpool, meaning that if a series of results bizarrely went their way and they got a comfortable win against Norwich, they could be top of the table come next Monday. It’s not what many expected when the year started, and we would imagine that there will come a time when they can’t quite keep up the pace, but for now it’s getting exciting to watch Brighton as a neutral. It’s essentially the polar opposite watching Norwich this year, they’ve drawn one game and lost the other six, conceding 16 goals and scoring just two thus far. Not ideal.

Southampton to draw with Leeds – 9/5

In the other 3PM kick-off, we’ve got kind of an interesting mid-table clash between Southampton and Leeds United that is actually something of a pick ‘em. We’d struggle to pick between these sides, who are separated by just a point and a league position. They’re currently sitting just above the drop zone, but given what we have seen of both of these sides, we would imagine that is a situation that will rectify itself as the year progresses. It’s very difficult to make a choice in this game, so we’re backing a draw in this one.

Chelsea to beat Brentford – 10/17

Brentford have been one of the surprise packages of this year, and thanks to their impressive form, Chelsea are not an unbackable favourite for this game. And bettors can thank Brentford for that, because we would absolutely be picking a Chelsea win here, no matter how Brentford have done thus far against Liverpool and Arsenal. The way that Tomas Tuchel’s team play is just the antithesis of what the Bees bring to the game, and they’re going to be able to comfortably coast to a 1 or 2-0 win on this trip away from home.

Everton to beat West Ham – 29/20

This match is one of those games between two teams who are having polar opposite seasons. After making it into Europe last year with an heroic season that saw them fighting for the Champions League spots by the final day or so, the Hammers were expected to build this season and bring more memories to the Olympic Stadium in East London. But that hasn’t happened at all, and they’ve struggled to get a foothold on the season thus far. Everton, on the other hand, are right up with the big boys, and are inches away from their local rivals Liverpool who are second in the table to Chelsea. Unfortunately for West Ham fans, we have to back Everton in this one

Tottenham Hotspur to beat Newcastle – 11/10

Surely this one can’t go against Spurs, can it? Well, the honest answer is that we aren’t 100% sure. Newcastle have looked way better than Norwich this year, but they are just inches ahead of them in the relegation zone because they can’t translate decent performances into any sort of decent result under Steve Bruce. The odds on this one are favourable, and we’d have to recommend backing Spurs, but there was some back-and-forth between that and going for the draw at 12/5. It’s a tough call, but we’re backing Spurs this weekend.

Arsenal to beat Crystal Palace – 5/8

We have one Monday night football match this weekend as Arsenal welcome Crystal Palace to the Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta’s men seem to have found the formula a little bit as this year has moved forward, and it’s hard to imagine that Crystal Palace will be getting a result in this one. They’ve been able to wrangle a few decent results over the last seven games, but we’d be very surprised if they were able to get even a draw here.

If you enter these results as a huge 10-fold acca on our NetBet Sport football odds page, you could stand to win almost £13,000 off of just a £5 bet should all of our predictions come through.
