West Ham v Liverpool Football Preview

Travelling to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford has become an unenviable task in recent years, and it’s going to be tough for Liverpool this week.

The hosts are riding high at the moment, having hammered Aston Villa last weekend and getting past Man City in the league cup, and they are still unbeaten and likely to progress in Europe.

But Liverpool haven’t had too bad of a season either, and they’re just three points league leaders Chelsea.

It’s unlikely that Burnley will be doing them a favour, but Liverpool will want to keep up the pace with a win in London, and the Hammers won’t give it to them easily.

Both of these sides could be described as “inconsistent” thus far, although they both seem to have found their form in recent weeks.

Liverpool are capable of putting five past Manchester United at Old Trafford uninterrupted, but then they’ve conceded five between their games with Brighton and Brentford.

West Ham under David Moyes have been similar, but they seem to have found the formula recently and they’re actually sitting in a Champions League spot as it stands.

Our NetBet win probability counter has this one heavily leaning towards the visitors, with Liverpool currently sitting at 55% and the hosts at a mere 22%, with a draw more likely at 23%.

We’ve taken a look at some of those odds, and have made out picks and predictions for the weekend’s big game.

West Ham v Liverpool Football Odds

The bookies don’t seem to think that this is going to be a close game, despite the hosts’ recent good fortunes. Visitors Liverpool are priced as heavy favourites at 20/29, while West Ham are sizable underdogs at home with a price of 10/3. The draw is really worth taking a look at, priced 29/10.

West Ham v Liverpool Betting Tips

Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

Draw – 29/10

Liverpool have been held, away from home, to draws with far worse teams than West Ham this season. If Moyes’ troops can put pressure on the Liverpool backline, which has been shaky at time times, you could easily see a win for the Hammers, or at the very least a draw. We’d imagine it won’t be 0-0 though, so bet on a score draw at 16/5!

Double Chance: West Ham or Tie – 6/5

Massive price for two very likely results we’d say this is one of our ocks of the weekend to be honest. Liverpool struggle with these pressure teams away from home and we think a draw is very possible, let alone a West Ham win if they can hold out better than Palace or Brentford.

Michail Antonio to score anytime – 11/5

This is a phenomenal price for West Ham’s top scorer, who’s already netted six times this year for the hosts. They’re offering smaller odds on Divock Origi to score, which strikes us as borderline disrespectful. Get on it!
