PSG will end 2021 with a dominant lead at the top of Ligue 1 thanks to a fine run of form at the back-end of the year. Champions Lille have not fared so well this season and will be hoping to turn thing around in 2022 after a poor start to their campaign. Rumours surrounding 21 year old Jonathan David continue to grow as Ligue 1’s top goalscorer attracts interest from across Europe, and the Canadian could be set to leave his mid-table side.

Rumours have also persisted with Erling Haaland, with the Norwegian having scored six in as many games since his return from injury. Despite his 13 goals in 11 games, Dortmund are already nine points adrift of their rivals Bayern Munich, who look to be running away with a 10th consecutive German title.

Dusan Vlahovic is another man who ended the year in exceptional form. Since returning from international duty towards the end of November, the Serbian has netted eight goals in seven games. In spite of the forward’s best efforts, Fiorentina remain seven points off the top four, with an exciting title race set to take place between the Milan clubs, Napoli and Atalanta.

The race for La Liga title is less enthralling, with Real Madrid establishing an early lead. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have both failed to put together a consistent run of wins, allowing Los Blancos to emerge as strong favourites to claim the championship.

In England, it is Man City who have emerged as favourites to retain their title after picking up eight consecutive wins. However, there is still a long way to go, and Liverpool are hot on the Champions’ tails as Jurgen Klopp looks to win back the Premier League.

This Week’s European Football Betting Tips

*Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

Arsenal vs Wolves: Draw – 5/2

Wolves will turn up to the Emirates and do what they have done so well this season – defend for their lives. They have kept five clean sheets in seven games, and we think Arsenal will struggle to break them down.

Southampton vs Tottenham: Tottenham win – 11/10

A resurgence could be on the horizon for Spurs under Antonio Conte. They impressed on the break against Liverpool and probably should have been out of sight in the first-half. They are much improved defensively and should beat a Saints side in poor form.

Leeds vs Aston Villa: Aston Villa win – 13/10

Villa have looked very good under Stevie G. The new manager looks to have tightened things up defensively and Ollie Watkins is back to his best. We’re backing Villa to come out on top against Bielsa’s wounded Leeds.

Valencia vs Espanyol: Valencia win – 4/5

Espanyol don’t travel well – they have the second worst away record in La Liga. Valencia have won five on the bounce and have not tasted defeat since October. A win could see the home side breach the top six.
