After a three week break, German football returns this weekend as Bayern Munich look to extend their nine point lead at the top of the table. Dortmund will do everything in their power to stop their rivals claiming a 10th consecutive Bundesliga title, but Bayern’s fate is in their own hands.

An unexpected slip-up in their opening game of 2022 means Real Madrid’s lead has been cut to just five points by Sevilla. Should the challengers win their game in hand they could place themselves within two points of Los Blancos.

The title is all but out of reach for Ligue 1’s hopeful top four, and with a 13 point gap already established, PSG look to be cruising towards claiming their fourth league title in five years. At the opposite end of the table, things are looking bleak for St. Etienne. Five points adrift of safety, they will need to turn things around in the second half of the season to avoid their first relegation in 18 years.

Salernitana are also destined for the drop, despite their Serie A status having been saved by the last minute acquisition of the club by new owners. They are eight points behind 17th place Spezia and will need a miracle to avoid playing in Serie B next season. At the summit of Italy’s top flight the title race is on, with just four points separating the Milan clubs and a derby day scheduled for February at the San Siro.

This Week’s European Football Betting Tips

*Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

Leverkusen vs Union Berlin: Leverkusen win – 4/5

It’s difficult to bet against Leverkusen when Patrik Schick is in the form of his life. The Czech’s tally stands at 16 in 14 games, already the most productive campaign of his young career. With exciting youth prospect Florian Wirtz just behind him, we expect the home side to push on a secure top four status in the second half of the season.

Granada vs Barcelona: Barcelona win – 20/29

Xavi should have a number of quality players returning this weekend, as Barca look to carry on their decent run of form. They are on an upwards trajectory with home-grown youth at the heart of it, and we expect this visit to be business as usual.

Brest vs Nice: Nice win – 5/4

Nice are probably the best of the rest in Ligue 1 this season, and feature plenty of promising talents throughout their squad. A number of those will likely get poached in the summer, so Christophe Galtier will be looking for as strong a league finish as possible. They should have enough on the road against mid-table Brest.

Roma vs Juventus: Juventus win – 23/20

This is a close call, but we think Juventus will have the experience to get them over the line in these big games. The Old Lady have won six of their last eight league games, conceding just twice in the process. We can’t see Jose Mourinho’s inconsistent Roma being able to take the points.
