Everton vs Man City Football Preview

Things looked to have fallen into place for Everton when they put three past Leeds, but Lampard’s side followed that up with a disappointing performance and 2-0 defeat at Saint Mary’s. The former Chelsea man needs time to instil his ideologies, but the Toffees don’t have much time. Just one league win in their last eight has seen them drop dangerously close to the bottom three as we approach the back-end of the season.

Equally, Pep’s side can’t afford defeat either, but for entirely different reasons. The shock 3-2 loss against Spurs last weekend has left the door ajar for Liverpool to close in on the Champions. With the two dominant forces in English football set to meet in April, Pep will want to have a healthy lead going into that game to dampen the spirits on Merseyside.

With Everton in a period of transition and City looking to bounce back, this game seems destined to be one-way traffic. Lampard has preferred to opt for a 4-4-2 in most recent outings, but a midfield duo of Allan and Donny van de Beek doesn’t look best suited to deal with City’s dominance in the centre of the park.

Whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be vital in holding the ball up and allowing his team to travel up the pitch, you have to question whether he will have the support around him to play that role effectively given the defensive duties that will be required form Everton’s wide men.

There will of course be some frailties that Lampard has yet to address in his short spell thus far, and no manager is better at exploiting weaknesses than Guardiola. City will be out for vengeance after their defeat to Spurs, and Everton are the unfortunate side tasked with stopping them.

Our NetBet win probability counter fully expects City to come out on top and has given them a 74% chance of winning. A draw is given a 16% chance, seen as more likely than an Everton win at just 10%.

Everton vs Man City Football Odds

Everton haven’t beaten City since 2017, thus the bookies have them as heavy underdogs at 29/4. The last three meetings have ended 10-0 on aggregate to Pep’s side, hence their position as favourites at 3/10, whilst a draw is priced at 17/4.

Everton vs Man City Betting Tips

*Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

City Win to Zero – 11/10

Pep’s side have won seven of their last 11 league games to nil, and given Everton’s inconsistency since the arrival of Lampard, they should be no match for the visitors.

City Win 3-0 – 23/4

The Toffees have one of the poorer defensive records in the league, and although they may be able to hold off City for half hour, or even 45 minutes, they will succumb to the Champions in the end.

Create YourBet Special: City Win, Over 2.5 Goals, Raheem Sterling to Score First – 6/1

We expect City to dominate, and when City dominate, its little movements in and around the box that unlock compact defences. Who better to open the scoring than the league’s third top goal scorer?
