Man United vs Leicester Football Preview

Both of these teams are having disappointing seasons by their own standards. After successive fifth place finishes and European campaigns, Leicester are on track for a mildly average mid-table finish. Their opponents this weekend may be 14 points above them, but United are having an equally, if not more uninspiring season.

Just one win in their last five has seen Ralf Rangnick’s side fall four points adrift of the top four, whilst also suffering a bruising Champions League exit at the hands of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. Glimpses of brilliance have too often been followed by spurts of mediocrity from the Red Devils, with over £100million spent and nothing to show for it.

Brendan Rodgers isn’t exactly setting the world alight either. The Foxes have the fourth worst away record in the league, and they are currently equidistant from the relegation places and European spots. In all fairness, their campaign has been hugely affected by injury problems, but an over-reliance on a 35-year-old Jamie Vardy was always going to prove an issue at some point.

It remains to be seen whether Saturday’s game will be a battle of the ageing strikers – Vardy has been suffering with a knee injury – but United are bookies’ favourites going into the match. The NetBet win probability counter has them with a 62% chance of winning, whereas the visitors are given just a 17% chance.

Man United vs Leicester Football Odds

BOOSTED ODDS: Ronaldo to score first – 7/2

Whether or not you think CR7’s return to the Premier League has been a success, his hat-trick against Spurs was impressive. United have improved their attacking patterns of play since Rangnick’s arrival, and with Jadon Sancho proving a useful creative outlet, you wouldn’t put it past Ronaldo to open the scoring once again this weekend.

Man United win and both to score – 37/20

Both of these sides favour an open, attacking game, and that’s exactly what we’re likely to see on Saturday. Not many will be confident in United’s ability to keep a clean sheet, but they have got the talent in attacking areas to carve out chances – and a striker with 807 goals that can finish them off!

Both to score, Over 0.5 first half goals, Bruno Fernandes to score anytime – 18/5

This game promises goals, and eight of the last nine meetings between these two have featured at least one in the first half. Fernandes might not have reached his goalscoring heights of last season, but he found some form in front goal for Portugal, scoring twice to fire his nation to the World Cup. With the Leicester back line firmly focused on stopping Ronaldo, it could be Fernandes that pops up with a goal.
