Two of English football’s biggest rivalries will be reignited in the Premier League this weekend. Old foes Arsenal and Manchester United will fight a place in the top four, whilst Liverpool host Everton as they look to keep pace with title favourites Manchester City.

Saturday’s early kick-off will be a battle of the 90s giants as Arsenal host Man United in a huge clash in the race for the top four. The Gunners ended a three-match losing streak in midweek with a 4-2 win at Stamford Bridge, whilst United prepared for the weekend with another thrashing at the hands of Liverpool.
Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford earlier this season was their first loss against United in six games, and they haven’t tasted league defeat against them at the Emirates since 2017. They will be favourites at 11/10 heading into the important fixture, with a win crucial to keep the pressure on Tottenham.

This seems the most likely outcome on the face of it. You can’t trust either defence to keep a clean sheet, and both have quality forwards capable of capitalising on mistakes. Arsenal’s win against Chelsea will give them confidence, whilst United’s morale will be at an all-time low.

Everton’s victory at the Anfield last season was a classic smash and grab, marking their first win in a Merseyside derby in over a decade. However, it’s unlikely we’ll see a similar outcome this time round. Liverpool have re-established their home ground as a fortress – they haven’t lost a league game at Anfield this season – and Everton have lost seven consecutive away games.
It’s tough to find an effective Everton route to victory. Richarlison is in fine form in front of goal, but they struggle to keep the ball for long enough periods to provide service to the Brazilian. Frank Lampard’s side will be direct, and they’ll play on the break, but many teams have tried and failed with the same tactics against this Liverpool side.
