Man United to beat Brentford – 1/1

Now, we know what you must be thinking – United were hopeless against Brighton right? Well, defensively yes, but they showed more than enough going forward to make us think they will cause teams real problems this season. With some clinical finishing and better decision-making, Erik ten Hag’s side could have walked away with all three points. The new manager has plenty of problems to solve, but he has the individuals to solve them.

Brentford showed glimpses of promise in coming back from 2-0 down to snatch a point against Leicester, but they face a much trickier task this weekend as they prepare to host United. Ten Hag will have tweaked some aspects during the week, and you’d expect the visitors to be a tighter unit at the Community Stadium. These are cracking odds for a team we are talking about challenging for the top four.

West Ham to beat Nottingham Forest – 20/23

West Ham had the unenviable task of trying to stop Manchester City in their opening game of the 2022/23 campaign. It was an almost impossible task, and you would be better off judging their season expectations based on what we see at the City Ground on Sunday. David Moyes has splashed the cash this summer, bolstering the defence with Nayef Aguerd, bringing in Burnley’s star man Maxwel Cornet, and finally signing a striker in Gianluca Scamacca. The Hammers appear even stronger this year, and Moyes knows how to get the best out of his players.

Forest have done some good business of their own, but they have done a lot of business. It might take a little while for their squad to gel, and their signings from Europe to adjust to the intensity of English football. We think Steve Cooper’s side have a good chance of avoiding the drop based on their activity in the window, but it’s still early days.

Chelsea to beat Tottenham – 5/4

Chelsea have a superb record in this fixture over the years. The Blues have won the last four meetings with an 8-0 combined scoreline. Thomas Tuchel seems to have figured out how to nullify Spurs’ key players, and they will be favourites to pick up yet another win over their rivals at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Antonio Conte’s side started the season in sublime fashion, but they face an entirely different task on Sunday. Not only will the visitors need to find a way to break down Chelsea’s compact backline, but they will also have to stop a dynamic and versatile Blues attack. These two teams could be neck and neck towards the end of the season, and this fixture is crucial in allowing either side to build some early momentum. Chelsea are the favourites, and in front of a home crowd, we expect to see them claim all three points in a close affair.
