Arsenal vs Liverpool Football Preview

Arsenal’s 3-1 win in the North London derby was a huge statement of intent. They have now won seven of their opening eight league games and have a 100% record on home soil. Mike Arteta is getting a tune out of his squad, and injuries aside, there is no reason they can’t give Manchester City a real run for their money this season.

Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli have been brimming with confidence, and even Granit Xhaka is putting in career-high performance levels for the Gunners. Defensively they are far more secure than last season, and they will need to be this weekend against a star-studded Liverpool attack.

It’s taken a while for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds to get going, but they have not lost a league game since August. They are a long way off the dynamic, free-flowing team we have seen in recent years, but there have been signs that they are on an upwards trajectory. Klopp will no doubt have concerns about their away from – Liverpool are without a win in four games on the road this season. However, their record in this fixture is nothing short of dominant.

Liverpool are undefeated (4 wins, 1 draw) in their last five meetings with Arsenal, with the Gunners not managing to score a single goal in those games. In fact, Arsenal have managed three points on just one occasion in the last seven years against Liverpool. So, whilst the hosts are the form team, it’s anything but a foregone conclusion.

Arsenal vs Liverpool Football Odds

There is nothing to pick between these sides, and odds of 31/20 for both teams highlights that. Both teams to score is seen as likely at 10/21, with odds currently at 14/5 for Liverpool to keep a sixth consecutive clean sheet in this fixture. Despite not hitting the heights of last season, Mo Salah is joint favourite (9/2) to break the deadlock with the in-form Jesus and Klopp’s new signing Darwin Nunez.

Arsenal win and both teams to score – 27/10

This bet has landed in all four of Arsenal’s home games this season. They are certainly the team with the momentum, and Liverpool have repeatedly shown they are there for the taking away from home.

Tie with goals – 14/5

We don’t blame you if you don’t want to bet against Liverpool – their squad is still ridiculously good. There have been signs of improvement and their record in this fixture of late is hard to ignore.

Bet Maker: Over 0.5 first half goals, Over 2.5 match goals, Salah & Jesus anytime scorers – 25/4

There has been a first half goal and over 2.5 goals in seven of Arsenal’s eight league outings this season. Liverpool have also seen a first half goal in all but one of their games. Jesus is the most likely to get on the scoresheet given how important he has been as the Gunners’ focal point. As for Salah, well, it’s Salah.
