What Is Safer Gambling Week?

Safer Gambling Week 2022 takes place from October 17th to October 23rd, and at NetBet, we pride ourselves on the fact that we take responsible gambling very seriously.

Safer Gambling is paramount to NetBet all year-round. However, during Safer Gambling Week, our aim is to express just how important this responsibility is to us.

What Is Safer Gambling Week?

Safer Gambling Week is the main focal point for the promotion of safer gambling across the UK and Ireland. It is held every year and is a campaign led by the gambling industry that aims to create a discussion and debate with players, staff and the wider public about safer gambling, driving awareness of:

Venues and websites provide information on safer gambling throughout the year, with a range of tools and options to help manage play. During SG Week, these tools and options will be even more in the public domain with help and support offered throughout for those who want to find out about gambling behaviour, the key components of safer gambling and how to obtain further support.

Key support organisations like the National Gambling Helpline, GamCare and YGam will also be promoting the week and preparing for increased numbers of enquiries due to the national campaign.

There will also be a host of workshops and training sessions over the course of the week, which focus on parents and those working with the younger generation, teachers, youth workers and health professionals.

What We Do at NetBet

Gambling is an ever-growing industry within the UK, and with that comes increased risk of gambling-related harm to players.

Forty-seven percent of UK residents have gambled in the last four weeks in one way or another. Of those, 15% have gambled at work, 3.1% have bet more than they could afford to lose, and 7% of those gambled solely to earn money to get through the day.

At NetBet, we are continually innovating in an effort to protect as many at-risk demographics as possible. However, the key to Safer Gambling will always be support and education. Workshops are a vital tool in the world of safer gambling and our team at NetBet provide the necessary advice and help to ensure that players’ gambling doesn’t spiral out of control.

Gambling can be an invisible addiction. The first step to overcoming issues is to seek help. If you are experiencing harm from gambling, know someone who is, or if you have concerns about the gambling habits of someone you know… reach out. Let’s all do our bit to #talkaboutsafergambling.

Always remember to bet responsibly. Here at NetBet, player wellbeing is our number one priority – check out our Responsible Gambling tips and tools page for more information.
