NFL: Divisional Playoff Acca

NFL playoff

We’re down to the last eight teams this weekend as the NFL Divisional Round approaches with just two more wins needed to make it to Super Bowl LIVII.

The top seeds enter the mix this week as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday, while the Philadelphia Eagles host the New York Giants later that evening.

The number two seeds in the AFC, the Buffalo Bills, host the Cincinnati Bengals in Sunday’s first game while the Divisional Round concludes with Dallas Cowboys travelling to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

We’ve previewed all four games and picked out a four-fold acca with NFL odds of 10/1.

Kansas City Chiefs to beat Jacksonville Jaguars – 1.24

The Chiefs beat the Jaguars 27-17 when these two met in the regular season back in November as Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes threw for 331 yards, four touchdowns and an interception – but the Jags are a different prospect now.

Last weekend they completed the third-largest comeback in NFL postseason history to overturn a 27-0 defecit against the LA Chargers with Trevor Lawrence completing 23 of 29 passes on his last five drives for 253 yards and four touchdowns to pull out a 31-30 win.

The Jaguars offence can’t afford a slow start against what is statistically the top offense in the league and we could be in for a shootout, with both QBs going toe-to-toe for a place in the Championship games.

Cincinnati Bengals to beat Buffalo Bills – 2.83

Against Miami last week in Super Wildcard Weekend, Bills QB Josh Allen threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions and fumbled three times and Buffalo can’t lose the turnover battle against Cincinnati if they have ambitions to advance to the AFC Championship Game.

Saying that, Cincinnati didn’t pull up many trees on Super Wild Card Weekend as they defeated the Ravens, 24-17 with a 98-yard fumble recovery touchdown from Bengals defensive end Sam Hubbard early in the fourth quarter being the difference.

Based on what we’ve seen from either team last weekend, they will both have to improve if they are to progress to next weekend’s Championship game but the arm of Bengals’ QB Jake Burrow might just be the difference in what could be a tight encounter.

Philadelphia Eagles to beat New York Giants – 1.28

The Eagles took the spoils on both occasions when these two met in the regular season -beating the Giants by 26 points in December while the rematch was a closer affair with Philadelphia winning 22-16 in week 17.

The Giants offense was dominant in their 31-24 win over the Vikings Sunday as Daniel Jones became the first player in NFL playoff history to record 300-plus passing yards, two passing touchdowns and 70-plus rushing yards in his first postseason start, while Isaiah Hodgins caught eight passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.

The Eagles are a different prospect though, and are the only team in the NFL to have a top three offence and top three defence – then there’s the little matter of  Jalen Hurts, who takes the field for his second career playoff start – which might just be the deciding factor.

San Francisco 49ers to beat Dallas Cowboys – 1.50

After snapping an eight-game playoff road losing streak by beating Tom Brady’s Buccs last weekend, the Cowboys will look to continue the momentum when they travel to San Francisco to meet a 49ers team who ended their playoff hopes last season.

Dallas QB Dak Prescott will have to take on arguably the best defence in the NFL that held the Seahawks to just six points in the second half of their playoff win on Saturday and also boasts an offence that has been sparked by rookie sensation Brock Purdy.

Since November 27 the 49ers have only had one instance in which they have scored less than 33 points in a single game and unless the Dallas defence can make that two – it will be San Francisco advancing to the NFC Championship weekend.
