Man City vs Burnley Football Preview

It’s no surprise City are huge favourites ahead of the quarter-final clash – they’ve just hammered RB Leipzig 7-0 in the Champions League. But they won’t be writing off Burnley just yet, especially given Pep Guardiola might fancy making a few changes to his starting line-up.

Burnley arrive at the Etihad brimming with confidence following a spectacular campaign under City legend Kompany. The Clarets are a long way clear at the top of the Championship and it would take a monumental collapse for them not to find their way back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

When you look at City’s home record, it’s tough to see them losing on Saturday. They have won seven straight home games, a run that includes victories against Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle.

Burnley have nothing to lose, and that could well play into their hands. Kompany has overseen a complete shift from direct football to a dominant, possession-based approach. Whether they can go toe-to-toe with a relentless City side remains to be seen, but they have every chance of exploiting a few of the cracks we have seen widen this season.

FA Cup Quarter-Final Betting Odds

City are massive 1.18 favourites going into the tie, with Burnley at 15.00 and a draw priced at 6.50. Both teams to score is enough to more than double your stake at 2.25, with either side to keep a clean sheet at 1.60.

After firing five past a helpless Leipzig, Erling Haaland opens as favourite to break the deadlock at 2.75, followed by Julian Alvarez (4.50) and Riyad Mahrez (6.40). Burnley’s Championship top scorer Nathan Tella is having a standout season and can be backed at 21.00 to open the scoring at the Etihad.

Man City vs Burnley Betting Tips

Both teams to score – 2.25

These odds represent brilliant value for two in-form, attacking teams. City to score at home in a quarter-final against lower league opposition goes without saying, so it largely depends on what Burnley do in the final third. They have shown more than enough this season for us to believe they will give City a good game and get themselves on the scoresheet.

Man City win and both to score – 3.09

Following on from the previous pick, you can treble your money with a City win and both to score. Burnley have netted 70+ goals in their Championship campaign already and are thriving under Kompany. It’s unlikely they’ll have enough to beat City over 90 minutes, but they will certainly fancy their chances.
