Liverpool vs Arsenal Preview

The bore draw against Chelsea extended Liverpool’s run to four matches without a win. Champions League football remains an uncertainty for next season and things don’t get any easier as they host the high-flying Gunners on Sunday.

Arsenal head into matchday 30 eight points clear at the summit. They travel to the north-west with the best away record in the league having picked up 34 points in 14 away games. Next best is champions Man City, who have won seven points fewer in the same number of away games.

Despite Liverpool fans enduring a less-than-impressive season thus far, the majority of their struggles have come on the road – only seven teams have accumulated fewer points away from home. However, Anfield has remained a fortress. The Reds’ home record is bettered only by the top two with Leeds the only Premier League team to win at Anfield this campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side ran away 3-2 winners in the reverse fixture at the Emirates. Bukayo Saka was at the double as Arsenal won a league game against Liverpool for only the second time since 2015. The Gunners’ record at Anfield does not make for good reading. 2012 was the last time they beat Liverpool in an away game, when Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla fired Arsene Wenger’s side to a 2-0 victory.

Premier League Odds

Arsenal will head to Anfield as very slight favourites at 2.44, with the hosts 2.62 underdogs and a draw priced at 3.61. Both teams to score is heavily backed at 1.61, with either side to keep a clean sheet enough to more than double you stake at 2.23.

Over 2.5 goals is seen as likely at 1.74, with over 3.5 (2.87) and over 4.5 (5.30) also offering good value. Gabriel Jesus netted a brace in his first start since returning from injury and is leading the odds to open the scoring at 6.50 with Mo Salah. Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez (7.10), Diogo Jota (7.50) and Roberto Firmino (7.90) make up the top five.

Liverpool vs Arsenal Betting Tips

Over 3.5 goals – 2.87

We can’t see this being a cagey affair. In front of a roaring Anfield, Liverpool will have something to prove. Klopp’s side have scored two or more goals in seven of their last eight home matches, while Arsenal have netted 18 in their last five league outings.

Draw and both teams to score – 4.15

Given their current form, we’re not sure Liverpool will have enough to beat the visiting Gunners, but they will give it a good go. Arsenal will probably take a point – they are far enough clear of Man City that they just need to avoid defeat to stay in control.
