Liverpool vs Tottenham Preview

After looking resigned to mid-table mediocrity during a string of poor results, Liverpool are back in the ascendancy. Three wins on the trot have left them in the hunt for Europe, and potentially even Champions League football, heading into the final handful of games.

Tottenham are in a similar position, but their consistent inconsistency led to the sacking of interim manager Cristian Stellini following a 6-1 battering at St. James’ Park. You never quite know what you’ll get from this Spurs outfit, and this weekend is no different.

For all of their troubles on the road this campaign, Liverpool have still been a force at Anfield. The Reds’ home record ranks in the top five in the division, with only Man United and Newcastle having conceded fewer goals on home soil.

Tottenham’s away record doesn’t make for good reading as they prepare for a trip to the north west. They are without a win in seven away games, losing five and failing to score in three. The last time Spurs won at Anfield was over a decade ago in 2011, when Rafael van der Vaart and Luka Modric fired them to victory. That remains their only win away at Liverpool since the turn of the millennium.

Premier League Betting Odds

It won’t come as too much of a shock to see Liverpool as strong 1.55 favourites. Tottenham make the trip 4.90 underdogs, with a draw priced at 4.60. Both teams to score has been heavily backed at 1.63, with either side to keep a clean sheet offering potentially good value at 2.18.

Over 2.5 (1.55), over 3.5 (2.36) and over 4.5 (4.10) goals will be fancied by many, with Mo Salah leading the odds to open the scoring at 5.00. Next best is Darwin Nunez (5.50), Diogo Jota (5.50), and Tottenham’s talisman Harry Kane (6.50).

Liverpool vs Tottenham Betting Tips

Liverpool to win and both team to score – 2.93

This bet has landed in six of the last 10 meetings between these sides, as well as each of Liverpool’s last three games. They are scoring plenty but are also shipping quite a few at the other end. Conceding against relegation candidates Leeds, Nottingham Forest and West Ham is not the best look when Harry Kane is about to roll into town.

Over 3.5 goals – 2.36

There hasn’t typically been over 3.5 goals in fixtures between these sides. However, this weekend’s game screams goals. There have been 15 goals in both Liverpool’s and Tottenham’s last three outings. Neither has looked particularly comfortable at the back and we could be in for an all-out attacking affair as a result.
