Royal Ascot: Day 4 Preview

Royal Ascot

It’s day four at Royal Ascot as we come to the end of an incredible week of horse racing. NetBet are paying extra places on races every day at Ascot, including the 14:30, 15:40, 17:00 nd 18:10 on day four. Head online to check out the latest markets and betting odds.

14:30 – Albany Stakes

Carla’s Way is the one to beat in the opening race of the day, although special mentions go out to Ryan Moore and Matrika. Carla’s Way was electric over 6½ furlongs at Doncaster a few weeks ago. James Doyle will look to get her out in front early, and if ahead of the traffic, we can’t see much stopping her.

Carla’s Way @ 5.00

15:05 – Commonwealth Cup

Aidan O’Brien will be eyeing up his first winner of the day with Little Big Bear a huge starting price favourite. The three-year-old will likely be too good for the rest, but there is some each-way value to be had. Lezoo and Noble Style are both tempting. The former is expected to improve on a somewhat disappointing showing at the 1000 Guineas Stakes, while the latter looked decent when coming up short to Shaquille at Newbury.

Lezoo E/W @ 8.50

Noble Style E/W @ 15.00

15:40 – Duke of Edinburgh Stakes

We’re dipping into the each-way market once more for the 15:40 as NetBet are paying five places. Al Nafir is our pick having come out on top in 1m and 1m 4f outings, most recently beating Wild Crusade by a neck at Newmarket.

Al Nafir E/W @ 7.50

16:20 – Coronation Stakes

As the 1.73 odds suggest, Tahiyra is the horse to beat, but Meditate and Queen For You could push the favourite closer than the odds suggest. Meditate would be our pick. Ryan Moore lost out to Tahiyra by 1½ lengths at the Irish Guineas and we would expect them to be the closest competition to the favourite once more.

Meditate @ 4.50

17:00 – Sandringham Stakes

With six places on offer, there is plenty of value to be had in the 17:00. We fancy the chances of Frankie Dettori and Coppice after the Gosden’s three-year-old cruised to victory at Newcastle in May. If you’re looking for an each-way option, Bellaphina has steadily improved and looked good en route to victory at Limerick and Curragh.

Coppice @ 7.50

Bellaphina E/W @ 29.00

17:35 – King Edward VII Stakes

We’re siding with Dettori and the Gosdens yet again for the King Edward Stakes. Arrest struggled down in 10th after losing a shoe at Epsom, but had looked good prior to that runout. They’ll need to go some to beat the favourite King of Steel, but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility.

Arrest @ 4.50

18:10 – Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes

Rocket Rodney and Pillow Talk are our picks for the day’s final race as we seek out some each-way value. Rocket Rodney has placed in six of seven outings winning twice, and was in touch with the leaders at York before falling off toward the end. Pillow Talk could be a long shot, but was ridden well to a second-place finish at York and could keep pace with the leaders from the outset.

Rocket Rodney E/W @ 17.00

Pillow Talk E/W @ 21.00
