World Cup Final Preview
Well, it’s been a long tournament for both sides. Although England have tournament final experience after their Euro’s heroics; they still have demons to overcome with the World Cup. The Spanish will be relying on the likes of Salma Paralluelo and Vilda to break down the English defence.
England, to be honest, haven’t been at their very best this tournament. Either way they find themselves in a final and a chance to hold both the Euros and World Cup at once. Sarina Wiegman’s side had to come through the hosts, Australia, and a ferocious Sydney crowd.
“It hasn’t been easy,” England’s Ella Toone said. “But we’ve grown and learned from every game and every challenge.”
There are a few issues England needs to overcome. Lauren James had been England’s best player before her ban. There are big questions over her involvement and whether she deserves to come straight back into the starting lineup. She has already shown her incredible attacking qualities in this tournament but she could well play a role as an impact sub.
England will be relying on the likes of Russo and Toone for a victory, with Lucy Bronze hoping to keep the potent Spanish attack out. This England team has experience in big matches; but there’s nothing quite like a World Cup final.
