Premier League: Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview, Odds & Betting Tips

Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview

It’s a Monday night cracker as Tottenham welcome Chelsea to North London. This will be the first time the two clubs have faced each other this season. It’s also Mauricio Pochettino’s return to Spurs after leaving the club five years ago; it’ll be a fiery return for the Chelsea boss as he enters the away dugout. This one could be a belter!

Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview

It’s a bitter London clash this one. There have been some hefty ding-dongs over the years between these two sides and this Monday will be no different. Although the cast has changed, this could play out in many ways. The two clubs are in very different stages of their development. Tottenham are bouncing, Chelsea are drowning.

Who knows what Chelsea side will turn up this week? They were, for the large part, the much better side against Arsenal and showed what they can be if their players perform to the best of their ability. But a meltdown is never too far away from Stamford Bridge. Their capitulation at the hands of the Gunners followed by a shock loss at home to the struggling Brentford outlined their Jekyll and Hyde nature.

Pochettino was bought in to get the most out of the young players they have at their disposal. While there is no doubting the ability of the squad there are still so many question marks surrounding their general play. The throwing away of a two-goal lead at home to Arsenal exemplifies the exact problems this side has. It seems to be a lack of maturity and game understanding. Pochettino still has a long way to go with this side.

Spurs on the other hand have started to dream of a famous season. Although they still have a long way to go, let them dream I guess. The loss of Harry Kane would have normally crippled a club like Spurs, but ‘Big Ange’ seems to be the antidote.

The best-ever start to a season by a newly appointed manager. He will know that another victory under the lights will be the most important of the lot, by a considerable distance.

The Australian is a far departure from his predecessors, aiming to implement front-foot football that entertains while securing results in the process. Many believed there would be some short-term pay-off before that style would take hold properly, as evidenced by some poor early results at Celtic.

Tottenham are flying. The ‘Spursyness’ seems to be evaporating. But will the big brother Chelsea arrive and burst this bubble? Either way, this fixture will certainly set a precedent for the season going forward. Other clubs will sit up and take note whatever way this one goes.

Latest London Derby Betting Odds

Tottenham come into this as the favourites given their run of form and place in the table. They are 2.08 to continue their good run of games. Chelsea are underdogs here and will be playing away from home, hoping to cause an upset. They are 3.21 here, with the draw placed at 3.59.

The goalscorers are a fairly mixed bag. Heung Min-Son leads the odds at 5.50 with James Maddison tipped at 7.10. The top-priced Chelsea goalscorer is Nicolas Jackson at 7.60.

Tottenham vs Chelsea Betting Tips

Bet Builder: Tottenham to win, both teams to score and James Maddison to score anytime @ 6.25

Spurs have been in great form as of late and they will continue to play some really good stuff. Chelsea have been so unpredictable, but they can grab a goal with their attacking quality. James Maddison has been Tottenham’s star player so far this season so could well get a goal here.

Tottenham to win, both teams to score, over 1.5 goals and over 8.5 corners @ 3.10

Spurs have been banging them in and with Chelsea’s defensive frailty, this is a chance for Tottenham to show they are real title challengers.

Richarlison to score first @ 7.60

He’s done very well to keep his place in the side but Ange seems to like him. However, he does look like he could score whenever he plays. With the quality behind him supplying chances, he could well open this one up.
