Manchester United vs Bayern Preview
It’s arguably the biggest game of United’s season. They looked to be building some momentum following a 2-1 midweek win against Chelsea, but an embarrassing 3-0 defeat at home to Bournemouth quickly humbled Erik ten Hag’s men. They head into this game bottom of Group A, with a win the only thing that leaves them with a chance of qualifying for the knockouts.
At the opposite end of group, Bayern are sitting pretty on 13 points. First place is already guaranteed, but they will no doubt also be looking for a reaction after a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Frankfurt last weekend in the Bundesliga. They are two sides coming into a big game off the back of poor defeats – which will respond and which will crumble under the pressure?
The last time these two met, the German champions were 4-3 victors in Munich. However, this is a scoreline that largely flattered United – they scored twice late on to make the result appear like the game was competitive. In reality, Bayern ran riot.
The last time Bayern won at Old Trafford was a 1-0 Champions League quarter-final victory in 2001. Since then, they have made the trip three times, drawing 0-0 in 2002, losing 3-2 in 2010, and drawing 1-1 in 2014. Games have typically fairly even between these European behemoths, but given United’s tumultuous form this season, nothing would surprise their fans anymore.

Bayern are slight 2.27 favourites ahead of the game, with United 2.69 underdogs and a draw priced at 4.10. Goals are expected in this one, with both teams to score at 1.40 and either side to keep a clean sheet at 2.77.
Harry Kane is leading the odds to break the deadlock on his return to English soil at 4.40, followed by United’s Rasmus Hojlund (7.00).

There simply isn’t as much motivation in this game for Bayern given they have already topped the group. We can see United plugging away, but eventually being let down by how open their defence is.
