Goalkeeper – Alisson

Most football fans agree he’s the best keeper in the Premier League. There are even Man City fans who would argue he’s more well-rounded than Ederson.

Commanding, an excellent shot-stopper, and adept with the ball at his feet, the Brazilian has been a huge part of Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp.

Right Back – Trent Alexander-Arnold

Undoubtedly the most technically gifted full-back the league has ever seen.

There will always be question marks about his defensive capabilities, but what he does with the ball outweighs what he does off it.

Centre Back – Virgil van Dijk

A key cog at the heart of Liverpool’s defence. For two or three years he looked unbeatable.

He’s won everything there is to win and is experiencing a second wind since receiving the captain’s armband.

Centre Back – Lisandro Martinez

His season has been hampered by injury after injury. However, when he plays, United look twice the side they do when he’s missing.

Left-footed centre-backs are hard to come by, and with the former Ajax man, United have one of the very best about.

Left Back – Luke Shaw

This was a toss-up between Shaw and Andy Robertson. Robbo has been an absolute soldier for Liverpool but looks to be coming toward the end of his peak due to persistent niggling injuries.

Shaw has also had his fair share of injuries but has played slightly more in the last year or two. Completely press-resistant and a serious physical presence, Shaw gets the nod.

Centre Midfield – Kobbie Mainoo

The teenage sensation. In the space of a few months, Mainoo has made his Premier League debut, scored a late winner at Old Trafford, earned his first England cap, and been named man of the match for England.

Sky’s the limit for Manc lad.

Centre Midfield – Alexis Mac Allister

Could have been Dominik Szoboszlai but we’ve gone with Mac Allister.

Since returning from a long lay-off, the former Brighton playmaker has been a mainstay in the Liverpool midfield, creating and scoring goals. He is a classy footballer and will do well for Liverpool in the coming years.

Centre Midfield – Bruno Fernandes

On his day, they don’t come much better than Bruno Fernandes.

His relentless energy and tireless work rate are coupled with unbelievable creative capacity. It’s been a tough couple of seasons under Erik ten Hag but Bruno has remained a pivotal part of everything positive that United do.

Right Wing – Mohamed Salah

Not only the first name on this teamsheet but arguably the best Premier League player of the last decade.

Since his return, Salah has set the league alight, contributing a quite ridiculous number of goals and assists. He’ll no doubt go down as an all-time Premier League great.

Left Wing – Marcus Rashford

Rashford might not have been at his best this season but he still has moments of magic in those boots. Just look at the strike in the Manchester derby. Electric on his day.

Centre Forward – Darwin Nunez

It was 50/50 between two young strikers: Darwin Nunez and Rasmus Hojlund.

Nunez just gets the nod. He’s been slightly more consistent than United’s centre-forward this season. He is still a bit raw, but nobody gets in as many good goalscoring positions as the Uruguayan.
