Chelsea vs Wolves Preview

Hosts Chelsea are in the midst of a rotten run of form, failing to win any of their previous five Premier League matches.

The Blues suffered two defeats in that time and were close to making it three against Bournemouth last time out, only for captain Reece James to salvage a point with a stoppage-time free-kick after coming off the bench.

Enzo Maresca’s side look a pale shadow of that which was tipped as potential title challengers just a few weeks ago.

The only silver lining has been the continued impressive form of talisman Cole Palmer, who boasts 14 goals and six assists in the Premier League this term.

And Maresca will need his star man to produce the goods against a Wolves side who are always capable of causing an upset.

Wolves recently picked up four points from matches against Manchester United (2-0 win) and Tottenham (2-2), but have since suffered two consecutive defeats in the league.

The Wanderers are subsequently in the relegation zone on goal difference and things need to change fast, with matches against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Liverpool on the horizon.

But with Matehus Cunha now back available for selection and Chelsea leaking goals, Pereira should be quietly confident of achieving a positive result in West London.

Although, a better performance than the one in the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle will certainly be required…

Chelsea are backed to win comfortably, residing at odds of 1.31 for victory. Wolves are way out at 7.70, while the draw is 5.80.

Chelsea vs Wolves Betting Tips

Cole Palmer to score first for Chelsea @ 3.00

Whenever Chelsea ripple the back of the net, it seems to be Palmer running off with his trademark celebration. The England international opened the scoring in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth and he can repeat the feat here.

Chelsea to score over 2.5 goals @ 1.84

When the Blues’ attack clicks, it is quite devastating. Wolves have conceded a division-high 48 goals this season, hence why we are opting for the selection above.

Chelsea to win and over 3.5 goals @ 2.21

But as we previously mentioned, Chelsea’s defence has been suspect in recent weeks. We can see Marseca’s side conceding in a fairly routine victory, 3-1 or 4-1.
