Chelsea vs West Ham Preview
These two endured differing fortunes on Matchday 23.
After taking an early lead against Manchester City, Chelsea failed to show their undeniable quality and eventually slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the Etihad.
Injury-depleted West Ham responded superbly to going 1-0 down at Aston Villa, eventually securing a 1-1 draw thanks to a late equaliser from Emerson Palmieri.
The Hammers appear to be showing signs of life under the tutelage of Potter after Julen Lopetegui’s ill-fated reign at the London Stadium.
But this will be his toughest test yet, taking on a club which the new West Ham boss knows all too well.
The Blues, who sacked Potter in 2023 after just seven months in charge, are stuttering along under Enzo Maresca, picking up just one win in their last seven Premier League matches.
It is a run which has seen Chelsea drop out of the Top 4 and with only three points separating them from 8th-placed Villa, a turnaround in form is sorely needed.
Chelsea and Maresca will have fond memories of playing West Ham, though.
Earlier in the campaign, the Blues walked away from East London with a 3-0 win thanks to a Nicolas Jackson brace and a strike from Cole Palmer.
Palmer has continued to shine on the big stage but Jackson is now seven without a goal in the top flight.
Will West Ham’s leaky defence, which has conceded 44 times this season, do the Senegalese striker more favours? We will soon find out!

Chelsea vs West Ham Betting Tips
Chelsea to be winning at half-time, draw at full-time @ 14.00
Okay, we know this is a risk, but hear us out. Chelsea have surrendered early leads for fun of late, recently drawing 2-2 with Bournemouth after being 2-0 up at the Bridge. They also lost 2-1 to Fulham on home soil after going ahead in the 16th minute. And West Ham displayed their powers of recovery at Villa Park, so this bet is maybe not as silly as it looks at first glance.
Cole Palmer to score first @ 4.40
If our premonition of Chelsea scoring early is correct, Palmer will probably be the man responsible. He has scored the opener in three of the Blues’ last six Premier League games, against Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Fulham respectively.
Jarrod Bowen to score anytime @ 4.70
Potter is hopeful that captain Bowen can make a return in some form on Monday after recovering from a foot injury. Whether he starts the match or comes off the bench with West Ham chasing an equaliser, him finding the back of the net is always a solid bet.
