Who is UFC Superstar Leon Edwards?

UFC Superstar Leon Edwards

Leon Edwards is beginning his journey back to UFC gold this weekend in a massive homecoming at The O2 Arena in London.

The former welterweight champion lost his belt to Belal Muhammad back in July at UFC 304. He has since been back in camp preparing for his latest UK headliner, which will be at an appropriate time in his home country.

Edwards dethroned the legendary Kamaru Usman to win the gold back in August of 2022 at UFC 278. His victory was the stuff of legend, coming from behind to knock out the seemingly unbeatable champion with a sensational head kick, landed just seconds from the final bell.

It followed an unbelievable run to the top that saw him struggle to get recognition on route to his title fight. He was forced out of action for almost two years with multiple cancellations between the summer of 2019 and 2021, but has since gone on to beat the likes of Nate Diaz and Usman.

In his two successful title defences, he defeated Usman in a trilogy and Colby Covington. He then lost the belt to the aforementioned Muhammad, and it remains to be seen whether he will get a shot at the belt once again if he can record a big win this weekend.

When is Leon Edwards’ Next Fight?

Since losing his world title to Muhammad back in July, Edwards has kept a low profile. He has stuck to training, and recently announced his return to the Octagon this Saturday in the main event of UFC London.

Fans in the UK can watch the event live on TNT Sport, with the main card starting at 8PM UK time. The prelims begin at 5PM on UFC Fight Pass.

Edwards had been due to face the undefeated Jack Della Maddalena in the UFC London headliner, but a reshuffle atop the welterweight division caused a late change. The Australian now faces Muhammad for the belt at UFC 315, with Sean Brady being drafted in to face Edwards.

Philadelphia native Brady was undefeated for years prior to losing to Muhammad in his sole UFC knockout a few years ago. But he has continued to win since with impressive showings against Kelvin Gastelum and Gilbert Burns, now earning a chance at a star-making role at The O2 Arena in London against a former champion in Edwards.

Leon Edwards: UFC London Latest Odds

The oddsmakers here at NetBet have Edwards as the underdog, despite his impressive striking power and the fact that he has had a full camp to prepare. He is priced at 2.36, while Brady is a 1.59 favourite heading into enemy territory.

Leon Edwards: UFC London Betting Tips

The only market currently being offered on NetBet is the Edwards vs Brady moneyline, but there are a number of undercard fights that are intriguing to our tipster. It is a 13-fight card with some fascinating matchups going ahead throughout the night.

One fight that instantly jumps out to bettors should be the unbeaten Lone’er Kavanagh, who takes on Felipe Dos Santos. Kavanagh is a 1.32 favourite, but Dos Santos is 3.40 and has solid experience in the Octagon that could make him an interesting proposition.

Another fight that we would keep an eye on is Mick Parkin and Marcin Tybura’s heavyweight showdown. British fighter Parkin is priced at 1.87, which makes him a slight favourite, and if you wanted to put him in a double with Edwards, you would get handsome odds of 4.41 on a combo bet!
