Ipswich vs Arsenal Preview

Ipswich are staring down the barrel of relegation ahead of Arsenal’s visit.

Avoiding the drop is virtually an impossible task for the Tractor Boys and their fate could be sealed next weekend.

So it is really just pride left to play for and up first is a tough test against the Gunners, who are looking to hold on to second spot in the table.

Ipswich vs Arsenal Preview

While the title is gone, with Liverpool needing just six points to be crowned champions, the Arsenal players will be in great spirits following their 2-1 win at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

The Gunners beat Real Madrid 5-1 over two legs to book a place in the Champions League semi-finals.

But while Mikel Arteta’s men have impressed in Europe, their domestic form has been far from inspiring of late.

Back-to-back 1-1 draws against Everton and Brentford has seen in-form Newcastle move just four points behind the North Londoners in the table.

So Arsenal will be eager to return to winning ways in the Premier League, though it won’t be that easy against an Ipswich side finding a bit of form.

Kieran McKenna’s team, which is more than capable of playing stylish football, drew 2-2 at Chelsea last week, just 11 days after beating Bournemouth 2-1 away.

However, Ipswich’s home form has been poor – to say the least. The Tractor Boys lost 2-1 to Wolves in their last Portman Road fixture and they have won just once in front of their own fans in the top flight this season.

As such, an Arsenal XI which should be slightly different to the one seen at the Bernabeu will fancy their chances of extending that poor record, with Ipswich also conceding 36 goals in the 16 previous home encounters.

The reverse fixture over the festive period finished 1-0 to the Gunners, a dire match which we hope we do not see a repeat of later today!

Ipswich vs Arsenal Odds

Arsenal are, of course, huge favourites here at 1.39. Ipswich are priced at 7.40, while the draw is 4.75.

Ipswich vs Arsenal Betting Tips

Ethan Nwaneri to score anytime @ 3.29

With Saka expected to get a rest following his exploits at the Bernabeu, the stage is set for Nwaneri to shine. The teenage star has three Premier League goals and averages 2.79 shots on goal per match this season.

Liam Delap to score anytime @ 4.10

Delap surprisingly started on the bench last weekend at Stamford Bridge, but he will almost certainly start in this one. The Englishman has 12 goals in 31 top-flight appearances and is also on penalty duty, so we fancy him to get the better of David Raya. Delap has also scored against big teams this season, including Aston Villa, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Arsenal to win and over 2.5 goals @ 2.02

Given we have tipped two goalscorers above, it feels only right to finish with this. Ipswich’s recent form suggests they will push Arsenal all the way and we could be in for a great contest at Portman Road.
