Barcelona vs Real Madrid Preview

Barca will represent something of a wounded animal heading into this fixture after their dramatic Champions League semi-final exit.

The Blaugrana lost 7-6 on aggregate to Inter Milan following a 4-3 classic at San Siro, in which Francesco Acerbi snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a stoppage-time equaliser.

So all focus for Barca now switches to La Liga and a fourth El Clasico victory of the season would mean they could secure the title at local rivals Espanyol next Thursday.

Both Barca and Real are on superb runs of form in the Spanish top flight, each winning their previous four fixtures.

But Carlo Ancelotti’s injury list may very well prove to be a decisive factor here, as the Italian coach is set to be without Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy, essentially the bulk of his defence.

Against a free-scoring side like Barca (163 goals in all competitions) with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha at the peak of their powers, that is far from ideal.

However, the hosts have injury issues too. First-choice full-backs Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde are likely to miss out once again, while top scorer Robert Lewandowski has only recently returned from a muscle strain.

Real may also take some comfort from the fact that Barca have lost three times at home in La Liga this season, though the Catalans are yet to suffer a top-flight defeat in 2025.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid Betting Tips

Dani Olmo to score anytime @ 2.70

While the likes of Yamal, Raphinha, Lewandowski and Ferran Torres are the main contenders for Barca in the goalscorer market, we like the look of Olmo’s odds. The Spanish playmaker netted in the 4-3 defeat to Inter and has tallied three goals in his last four La Liga appearances.

Kylian Mbappe to have over 1.5 shots on target @ 2.38

Flick’s insistence on a high defensive line means Real’s top scorer Mbappe should get plenty of chances on the counter. The Frenchman has recorded 71 shots on target in La Liga this season, 26 more than any other player.

Lamine Yamal to have over 1.5 shots on target @ 3.25

Yamal’s numbers in the shots on target metric are pretty good too, the teenage sensation registering 35 despite scoring only six league goals. The flying winger tested Yann Sommer’s gloves five times at San Siro on Tuesday evening, so backing him to sting Thibaut Courtois’ palms at least twice should be a wise move.
