Get ready for the Kylian Mbappe derby as Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid meet in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The French superstar will be coming up against his former team on Wednesday evening just over a year after completing a free transfer to the Spanish capital.

But since Mbappe’s departure, PSG have gone from strength to strength under the tutelage of Luis Enrique, famously winning their first Champions League trophy by thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Madrid Preview

Mbappe has appeared off the bench in Real’s last two fixtures against Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, scoring in the latter to help secure a 3-2 win and passage to the semis.

The Frenchman is likely to start this contest after recovering from illness and reaching full match fitness, although the form of academy graduate Gonzalo Garcia makes the decision a slightly tougher one for Xabi Alonso.

Garcia has scored four goals in five matches, including the crucial strike in the 1-0 victory over Juve in the Round of 16 and a brace in the quarters against Dortmund.

Can Alonso drop him? It would be extremely harsh on the face of it, but when you have the prospect of Mbappe and Vinicius Junior working in tandem once again, big calls have to be made.

As for PSG, they had something of a chaotic quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich after a 4-0 victory over Inter Miami in the Round of 16.

The Parisians eventually won 2-0 thanks to late goals from Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele, though Enrique had to watch on as two of his defenders were sent off in William Pacho and Lucas Hernandez.

Dembele’s injury-time goal after entering the fray off the bench actually came when PSG were down to nine men, which is yet further evidence of their immense quality.

Like Mbappe, we expect Dembele to start this match after being eased back following an injury, paving the way for a battle between two of France’s finest forwards.

Pacho and Hernandez’s suspensions should aid Mbappe in his quest for goals, as will the absence of Dean Huijsen for Dembele, with the Spanish centre-back also unable to play the semi-final after seeing red in the win over Dortmund.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Madrid Betting Tips

Ousmane Dembele to score anytime @

Dembele is PSG’s most potent attacking weapon when he starts and with Huijsen missing from Real’s back-line, the ambidextrous forward should fancy his chances of scoring in back-to-back Club World Cup matches.

Kylian Mbappe to have over 2.5 shots on target @ 3.50

In case you were unaware, Mbappe is a machine when it comes to shots on target. In the 2024-25 La Liga season, he registered 77 in 34 appearances. If he is named in the starting XI, this is a great selection to consider!

Kylian Mbappe to have over 4.5 shots on goal @ 4.00

And if you fancy being a bit braver with your bet, this could be a great avenue to go down. Mbappe had 113 shots on goal overall in the aforementioned La Liga campaign, an average of 3.3 per match.
