British & Irish Lions vs Australia: Third Test Preview

The series may already be wrapped up, but the Third Test between the British & Lions and Australia is still a rugby match of huge significance.

For the Lions and head coach Andy Farrell, a clean sweep would represent an enormous achievement, while the Wallabies will be desperate to salvage some pride in front of their own fans.

Sydney’s fantastic Accor Stadium will host the third and final contest, with kick-off scheduled for 11am UK time on Saturday.

Lions Tour: Third Test Preview

After a fairly convincing First Test win in Brisbane, the Second Test was anything but easy for Farrell and his Lions stars.

In front of a raucous crowd in Melbourne, the visiting side fell victim to indiscipline and found themselves 23-5 behind on the scoreboard.

Of course, it was a fantastic opening burst from Australia, spearheaded by returning duo Rob Valentini and Will Skelton. But before the opening 40 minutes was over, the Lions began their dramatic, record-breaking comeback.

Tries from Tom Curry and Huw Jones narrowed the deficit, with the inspirational Finn Russell beginning to turn the screw with supreme awareness and kicking ability.

The second half was a far more tense affair, but the Lions eventually landed a decisive blow in the final minute, Hugo Keenan delivering a try to make it 29-26 in favour of Farrell’s men at full-time.

It is the most famous comeback in the long history of the Lions tours – and now we await what is to come in Sydney.

Head coach Farrell and captain Maro Itoje will be eager for a far better start to proceedings, though against a proud Aussie side, nullifying such early ferocity may not be an easy task.

Lions Tour: Third Test Odds

*All odds are subject to change

The Lions are, unsurprisingly, the big favourites to make it three wins from three Down Under, priced at just 1.33. A victory for the Aussies is at odds of 3.11, while the unlikely draw is 29.00.

Lions Tour: Third Test Betting Tips

Highest scoring half – First @ 1.76

After one of the great first halves seen on any Lions tour in Melbourne last weekend, this opening period may follow a similar path given the connotations of the match.

Team to score first try – Australia @ 2.14

The Wallabies know they cannot afford to fall behind against the Lions, so this market looks quite appealing as a result.

Winning margin – British & Irish Lions 1-12 points @ 2.16

But while we are tipping the Aussies to make the faster of the two starts, the Lions’ undeniable quality should steer them to victory. This bet came in for the previous two Tests, and the odds look very good again!
