Charlton to beat Watford @ 2.46

It might seem strange to tip a newly-promoted side to win on Matchday 1 of the Championship season, but Charlton’s home record in League One last term was fantastic. The Addicks won 17 of 25 matches and suffered only two defeats. In stark contrast, Watford’s away record in the 2024-25 Championship campaign was horrendous, as the Hornets only managed to win four of 23 matches, suffering 14 defeats and conceding 39 goals. With the stats to back it up, the odds on a Charlton win look very good indeed.

Josh Maja to score anytime for West Brom vs Blackburn @ 2.60

Maja is expected to be fit to play in West Brom’s opener against Blackburn – which is huge news for the Baggies. The Nigerian striker was on fire in 2024-25 before injury curtailed his season, scoring 12 goals in 26 matches. Maja will be hoping to rediscover that kind of form in 2025-26 and although Blackburn represent a tough first match at the Hawthorns, we are backing the centre forward to remind the Championship of his undeniable quality on Saturday afternoon.

Sheffield United to beat Bristol City @ 1.70

A rematch of last season’s play-off semi-final, which Sheffield United won by an aggregate score of 6-0 thanks to back-to-back 3-0 victories. Of course, the Blades lost out in the final to Sunderland, a result which should serve as motivation for this campaign. With Ruben Selles replacing Chris Wilder in the managerial hot-seat, a good start at Bramall Lane is of utmost importance. Sheff Utd had the second-best home record in the Championship last season (behind only Leeds), while Bristol City ranked 14th in the 2024-25 away table. This suggests a home win is a very likely outcome here.

Patson Daka to score anytime for Leicester vs Sheffield Wednesday @ 1.91

It is no secret that Daka has endured a tough time at Leicester, but the 2025-26 campaign represents the perfect opportunity for him to shine. With Jamie Vardy no longer part of the Foxes setup, new manager Marti Cifuentes will almost certainly look to make Daka his main man up top, especially after he showed some impressive form in pre-season, including a brace in the win over Karpaty Lviv. The Zambian could not have asked for a better fixture to kickstart his campaign either, with Sheffield Wednesday in the middle of a financial crisis and heavy favourites for the drop. Over to you, Patson.
