UEFA Super Cup 2025: Paris Saint-Germain vs Tottenham Preview

Tonight in Udine, Italy, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham lock horns in the 2025 edition of the UEFA Super Cup.

PSG won their maiden Champions League trophy in 2024-25, while Spurs somehow managed to win the Europa League after finishing 17th in the Premier League.

There is now a fresh face in the English side’s dugout in Thomas Frank, who succeeded Ange Postecoglou at the start of the summer.

This is Frank’s first big test in the hot-seat – and assignments do not come much tougher than the French champions.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Tottenham Preview

All the talk about PSG under Luis Enrique has been positive for the most part, although they enter this fixture on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final.

The Parisians were outplayed on July 13 in New Jersey and will be eager for a positive response against Spurs after some welcome rest.

PSG inflicted misery aplenty on English teams during their 2024-25 Champions League run, knocking out Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal before thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.

Although, one key figure in that timeframe – goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma – will not be part of the UEFA Super Cup as he edges towards an exit, while influential midfielder Joao Neves is suspended in a big boost to the opposition.

But Spurs had a mixed pre-season in truth, with the ACL injury sustained by playmaker James Maddison vs Newcastle a serious blemish.

Frank’s side lost 4-0 to Bayern Munich last Thursday, although the Europa League winners did at least beat rivals Arsenal 1-0 on July 31 after consecutive draws vs Wycombe and Luton.

It will be interesting to see which XI the new Spurs boss picks later this evening, with summer signings Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha set to feature from the off.

And Frank has received a timely boost with the return to fitness of both Dominic Solanke and Destiny Udogie, who are part of the travelling party.

Can the North Londoners produce a shock before their Premier League opener vs Burnley on Saturday?

Paris Saint-Germain vs Tottenham Odds

*All odds are subject to change

Understandably, PSG are the big favourites to claim the win here at a price of 1.45. A Tottenham victory is at odds of 6.60, while the draw after 90 minutes is 4.80.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Tottenham Betting Tips

Fabian Ruiz to score anytime @ 4.75

Ruiz has the knack of scoring big goals in a PSG shirt. The Spanish midfielder netted the crucial opener in the 2024-25 Champions League semi-final second leg vs Arsenal and struck twice in the 4-0 win over Real Madrid during the Club World Cup semis. As such, his odds here look mighty tempting.

Ousmane Dembele to have over 2.5 shots on target @ 3.40

Ballon d’Or contender Dembele is PSG’s biggest attacking threat and Spurs are not exactly strong at the back, an issue Frank will be keen to fix. So we can see the Frenchman registering at least three shots on target. Dembele had 51 shots on target in 29 Ligue 1 appearances last season.

Pedro Porro to have over 0.5 shots on target @ 4.00

A bit of a rogue selection, but one we can see serious value in. While a right-back by trade, Porro is a very attack-minded player and always finds himself in positions to take a shot on goal. Furthermore, he could be Spurs’ designated set-piece taker, so this may be a risk worth taking.
