Ladies and gentlemen, Premier League football returns this weekend!
In a summer without either a Euros or a World Cup, the excitement level for the re-emergence of top-flight action increases tenfold.
The Club World Cup satisfied some of those football cravings, but there is nothing quite like the Premier League.
So, ahead of Matchday 1, which begins at Anfield tomorrow evening with Liverpool vs Bournemouth, we have taken a look at the games across Saturday and Sunday to provide you with four intriguing selections to add to your bet slip.
Our Premier League tips below are at odds of 22.38 in a combined bet, with a 5% increase thanks to our Acca Boost feature. So a £10 bet would return a handsome sum of £234.49; not a bad way to start the season!
*All odds are subject to change
Ollie Watkins to score anytime for Aston Villa vs Newcastle @ 2.26
Watkins has been one of the Premier League’s top marksmen over the past two campaigns. The Villa striker scored 19 times in 2023-24 and followed that up with 16 more goals in 2024-25. Furthermore, the England international has really impressed in pre-season, tallying five strikes in as many matches. So Watkins should be licking his lips at the prospect of facing Newcastle on Matchday 1, with Eddie Howe’s side failing to win their last six pre-season matches and conceding 13 goals in the process. Watkins also has five goals in nine Premier League appearances against the Magpies, yet another reason to like the look of his odds here!
Kaoru Mitoma to score or assist for Brighton vs Fulham @ 1.95
Brighton looked good in pre-season, avoiding defeat and claiming impressive wins over Las Palmas and Wolfsburg. Fleet-footed winger Mitoma appeared to be in fine form too and ready to take the Premier League by storm. The Japanese star nursed various injuries last season, but still managed to score 10 goals and register four assists. With a busy summer of work getting him back to full fitness, as well as the prospect of supplying in-form forwards Danny Welbeck and Georginio Rutter, we are backing Mitoma to land a decisive blow at the Amex vs Fulham.
West Ham to beat Sunderland @ 2.18
This is one of the harder Matchday 1 fixtures to call. Newly-promoted Sunderland have been very busy in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Granit Xhaka, Reinildo and Simon Adingra. On paper, the Black Cats appear to possess the talent required to avoid relegation, but actually achieving that feat is easier said than done. West Ham are looking to improve on last season’s 14th-place finish, especially now Graham Potter has had a full pre-season to work with the players. The Hammers won four of their five warm-up matches, which should serve them well for a visit to the Stadium of Light.
Joao Pedro to score anytime for Chelsea vs Crystal Palace @ 2.33
It is no secret that Pedro has been a revelation since joining Chelsea from Brighton. The Brazilian striker arrived at the Club World Cup and took no time getting used to his new surroundings, scoring twice in the semi-final win over Fluminense before finding the back of the net again in the 3-0 final victory over Paris Saint-Germain. Pedro also struck in the pre-season friendly wins over Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan, so it is no surprise to see that he is currently one of the most selected players in the 2025-26 Fantasy Premier League game ahead of Palace’s visit to Stamford Bridge. And with Cole Palmer in support, we really like the look of Pedro’s odds to score again and reward the millions who own him on FPL!
