Leeds vs Everton Preview
One of the big talking points ahead of this match is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has joined Leeds on a free transfer after leaving Everton upon the expiration of his contract.
The Englishman would love nothing more than a debut goal against his former employers, who will be missing key defender Jarrad Branthwaite for quite some time with a hamstring injury.
Daniel Farke and Leeds have been fairly busy in the summer window, bringing in the likes of Lukas Nmecha, Sean Longstaff, Jaka Bijol and Anton Stach, with last season’s top scorer Joel Piroe also remaining at the club.
However, Everton have also recruited smartly, adding Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry to a squad which concluded last season in promising fashion following the re-appointment of David Moyes.
A top-half finish may be on the agenda for the Toffees, who have now moved to a brand new stadium on Merseyside.
But it is never easy visiting Elland Road, especially as Leeds had the best home record in the Championship last season, winning 18 of 23 matches and suffering just one defeat.
However, Everton have a fairly good recent record against the Whites, winning three of the last five Premier League meetings and drawing the other two.
Leeds vs Everton Odds
*All odds are subject to change
Surprisingly, newly-promoted Leeds are the favourites to win here at odds of 2.31. An Everton victory at Elland Road is priced at 3.27, while the draw is 3.21.
Leeds vs Everton Betting Tips
Iliman Ndiaye to have over 0.5 shots on target @ 2.00
Ndiaye was Everton’s top scorer in the Premier League last season with nine goals. A huge threat in the final third with his dribbling and accurate shooting, we are surprised at how good his odds are to record just one shot on target!
Player to score or assist – Iliman Ndiaye @ 3.00
Another Ndiaye-themed selection, one which features increased odds. It was quite a shock to learn that the Everton ace did not record a single assist in 2024-25, but that probably was not helped by the Toffees’ lack of cutting edge in the final third. During the 2022-23 campaign at Sheffield United, Ndiaye tallied 14 goals and 10 assists in the Championship, proof that he can be a scorer and a creator rolled into one.
Idrissa Gueye to commit over 1.5 fouls @ 2.10
In 2024-25, Gueye committed 1.6 fouls per game and collected nine yellow cards. With the hostile Elland Road atmosphere, the Senegalese midfielder may have to be more tenacious than usual, which could see this selection land with plenty of time still left to play in the match.
