Tennis: US Open 2025 Preview

US Open 2025 Preview

It is time for the final tennis Grand Slam of the calendar year, the prestigious US Open.

One of the great sporting tournaments, this is a stage where only the best thrive, with the 2025 edition of the event concluding on September 7.

Jannik Sinner is the defending champion in the men’s bracket, while women’s World No1 Aryna Sabalaneka lifted the trophy last year.

Can anyone stop Sinner and Sabalenka this time around in New York? When it comes to professional tennis on the ruthless hardcourts, anything is possible!

Read on as we preview the 2025 edition of the US Open, while also providing you with the latest tennis odds from our betting website and app.

US Open 2025 Preview

In the men’s bracket, World No1 Sinner once again looks like the man to beat. While the Italian had to retire in the Cincinnati Open final due to illness, allowing Carlos Alcaraz to claim the win, there can be no denying that he has been in supreme form this year.

Sinner won the 2025 Australian Open, narrowly missed out on the French Open title in a classic final vs Alcaraz and then claimed a maiden Wimbledon victory last month.

Stopping him looks a tall order (providing he recovers quickly from illness), even for the likes of Alcaraz and four-time US Open champion Novak Djokovic. Of course, never rule out the Serbian legend at any major event, even at the age of 38.

Great Britain’s hopes in the men’s bracket rest on Jack Draper, who reached the semi-final stage at last year’s tournament – which is his best Grand Slam performance at the time of writing.

The women’s section looks a little bit more competitive than the men’s, with Sinner and Alcaraz clearly a level above everyone else.

While reigning champion and World No1 Sabalenka is the favourite, she has not had everything go her way in the other Grand Slams this year.

Madison Keys beat her in the Australian Open final, while another American in Coco Gauff defeated Sabalenka in the French Open final. Hometown hero Gauff has been on a poor run of form of late with three defeats in five, but write her off in Queens at your own peril!

Moving on, Sabalenka crashed out of Wimbledon at the semi-final stage, with Iga Swiatek going on to claim the title.

Swiatek was also victorious at the recent Cincinnati Open, beating Jasmine Paolini in the final, and the Polish sensation won the US Open back in 2022.

So the women’s bracket looks set to be packed with drama, and Britain’s hopes here hinge on 2021 winner Emma Raducanu, who is looking to cause another upset in a star-studded field.

Now let’s take a look at the outright odds ahead of the First Round…
