Manchester City vs Manchester United Preview

After losing back-to-back Premier League games against Tottenham and Brighton, City now have a bit of an injury crisis to contend with.

Savinho, Josko Gvardiol, John Stones and Phil Foden are doubts, while Rayan Cherki, Omar Marmoush and Mateo Kovacic have been ruled out of the fixture.

United have a fairly clean bill of health, though summer signing Matehus Cunha is set to miss out after injuring his thigh in the 3-2 win over Burnley before the international break. Mason Mount is also a doubt.

Cunha’s absence – and Mount’s potential absence – could see Amorim hand a first Premier League start to Benjamin Sesko, though Joshua Zirkzee is more likely to slot in.

Another option would be to move Bruno Fernandes further forward, with the United skipper scoring in the 2-1 win at the Etihad last season. Amad Diallo famously bagged the other goal.

But while uncertainty surrounds the Red Devils’ forward line, City will have their main man – Erling Haaland – as the focal point.

Fresh from scoring five goals in a single match for Norway vs Moldova, Haaland has a great record against United, netting six goals in his previous five appearances.

City go into the Manchester derby as convincing favourites at a price of 1.76. A United victory is at odds of 4.20, while the draw is 3.86.

Manchester City vs Manchester United Betting Tips

Player to score or assist – Bernardo Silva @ 2.50

With several key attacking players set to be absent for City, Silva may be deployed in a more advanced role. And the playmaker has a good record against United, registering seven goals contributions in 14 top-flight clashes. Silva also scored in Portugal’s 3-2 win in Hungary on Tuesday evening.

Erling Haaland to have over 1.5 shots on target @ 1.80

No player has registered more shots on target than Haaland this season, the City star recording five to go with his three goals scored. Against a United side which often flatters to deceive from a defensive standpoint, Haaland can get some more wear into his prolific shooting boots.

Bryan Mbeumo to have over 0.5 shots on target @ 1.83

City’s defence is far from the most secure, while United have the attacking stars to inflict damage. Mbeumo is one of them, having netted his first Premier League goal for the Red Devils in the 3-2 win over Burnley. The Cameroon international has already registered four shots on target this season – and may add another one to the total at the Etihad.
