Athletic Bilbao vs Arsenal: Player to score or assist – Eberchi Eze @ 2.25

Arsenal will arrive in Spain full of confidence having beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 at the Emirates last Saturday. Summer signing Eze enjoyed a stellar full debut, assisting Viktor Gyokeres’ goal early in the second half. Eze looked more-than comfortable on the left-hand side of Mikel Arteta’s attack and should resume that role at San Mames. And Bilbao have lost each of their last two home matches by a 1-0 scoreline, with Osasuna and Alaves walking away with surprise wins. As such, Arsenal are the big favourites here – and we are tipping Eze to play a leading role in a Matchday 1 victory.

Tottenham to beat Villarreal @ 1.85

After a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth before the international break, Spurs rallied to beat rivals West Ham 3-0 at the London Stadium. With Xavi Simons impressing on his debut, things are looking up for Thomas Frank’s side. And after back-to-back La Liga wins to start the season, Villarreal have faltered in recent weeks, with a 1-1 draw vs Celta Vigo followed by a 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid. Of course, the Yellow Submarine are capable of beating anyone on their day, but we think Spurs will be a little bit too strong on this occasion.

Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid: Player to score or assist – Florian Wirtz @ 2.10

It is no secret that Florian Wirtz has made a slow start to life at Liverpool following his mega-money summer move from Bayer Leverkusen. The young playmaker is yet to score or assist in Premier League action, while his overall performances have drawn some criticism. But the Champions League is the perfect stage for the German international to remind the world of his undeniable talent. With a raucous Anfield crowd behind him, Wirtz can target an Atletico defence which is perhaps not as secure as the peak Diego Simeone days. Atletico have kept just one clean sheet in four matches this season, while Wirtz scored six goals and tallied one assist in nine Champions League appearances for Leverkusen last term. Over to you, Florian!

Newcastle to beat Barcelona @ 3.14

We finish with our boldest tip of the lot. Barcelona are, of course, the favourites ahead of a visit to St James’ Park, and the La Liga champions arrive having thrashed Valencia 6-0 on Sunday evening. However, Newcastle have proven before that they can take on Europe’s best on Tyneside. The Magpies famously beat Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 on Matchday 2 of the 2023-24 Champions League season, and also claimed a crucial 1-0 win over Wolves last Saturday. Summer signing Nick Woltemade scored the only goal, and we can see Newcastle springing a surprise, even though Fermin Lopez, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski each netted twice vs Valencia. Lamine Yamal is set to miss this match through injury, which represents a huge boost for the hosts.
