Real Betis vs Nottingham Forest Preview
It has been a tumultuous start to the season for Forest, with Nuno Espirito Santo dismissed after a fallout with the owner and replaced by another ex-Spurs boss in Ange Postecoglou.
Of course, Postecoglou won this competition with the North London club last season, famously beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final.
But repeating that feat with Forest would be extraordinary, especially after the club’s poor start to the campaign.
After back-to-back 3-0 defeats vs West Ham and Arsenal, the Tricky Trees were dumped out of the EFL Cup by Swansea, and then could only muster a 1-1 draw at newly-promoted Burnley.
With so many new signings made over the summer, it is perhaps no surprise that things are not quite clicking yet, but Postecoglou will know he needs to start finding answers soon.
The Aussie boss may need to rely on Forest’s established stars in the short-term, namely Chris Wood, Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Elliot Anderson.
As for Betis, they have been a bit hit and miss in La Liga thus far, with two wins, three draws and one loss leaving them sixth in the table.
Influential playmaker Isco is still absent with a long-term injury, though Manuel Pellegrini can call on other attacking weapons in Antony, Giovani Lo Celso, Pablo Fornals and Cucho Hernandez to fill the void.
Betis defeated Real Sociedad 3-1 at home on the weekend, though their previous fixture at the Villamarin Stadium saw them beaten 2-1 by Athletic Bilbao.

Real Betis vs Nottingham Forest Betting Tips
Player to score or assist – Giovani Lo Celso @ 2.05
Former Tottenham midfielder Lo Celso has been a standout performer for Betis this season, with one goal and two assists in La Liga action. Attacks flow through the Argentine, and he is a player which Postecoglou’s side may struggle to keep quiet.
Morgan Gibbs-White to have over 1.5 shots @ 1.62
Forest playmaker Gibbs-White is not afraid to take shots on goal. In his five Premier League appearances this season, he has recorded nine shots, an average close to two per game. So this selection could represent an easy win.
Real Betis to win and both teams to score @ 3.82
Games featuring Betis usually involve goals being scored. In five of their six La Liga matches this term, both teams have found the back of the net, while Forest are yet to keep a clean sheet in 2025-26. And with Postecoglou in charge, that may not change anytime soon!
