Fulham vs Arsenal Preview

Arsenal players must be desperate to get up and running again after leapfrogging Liverpool at the top of the table.

The Reds’ consecutive defeats to Crystal Palace and Chelsea allowed the Gunners to claim top spot with key wins over Newcastle (1-2) and West Ham (2-0).

But there is one major negative heading into this match for Arsenal, as captain Martin Odegaard is set to miss around six weeks of action after picking up an MCL injury in the last outing. The Norwegian joins Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke on the treatment table.

Odegaard’s absence will place far more responsibility on the shoulders of Eberechi Eze and Ethan Nwaneri, while Mikel Merino – who scored twice for Spain vs Bulgaria on Tuesday – is another potential replacement.

As for Fulham, Marco Silva will be a tad concerned with his side’s recent performances, resulting in back-to-back 3-1 defeats at Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

But the Cottagers are unbeaten at home in the top flight so far this season, with a 1-1 draw vs Manchester United followed by wins over Leeds (1-0) and Brentford (3-1).

In terms of injuries, Fulham could be without a number of key players for this contest, with Rodrigo Muniz and Kenny Tete already ruled out of contention.

And Raul Jimenez and Sasa Lukic are both struggling with knocks, which means Silva may be unable to call upon a recognised No9 – which is far from ideal against Arsenal’s formidable back-line (only three goals conceded in the Premier League so far this season!).

Speaking of the Gunners’ defence, one of the key figures in it – centre-back William Saliba – secured a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage last season after Jimenez had opened the scoring early on.

Bukayo Saka thought he had won that match right at the end, only to see his effort disallowed by VAR after Gabriel Martinelli had strayed offside.

But Fulham did beat the Gunners 2-1 at Craven Cottage on December 31, 2023, which brought an end to a run of five consecutive Arsenal wins in West London.

Fulham vs Arsenal Betting Tips

Both teams to score – Yes @ 2.02

Yes, Arsenal may have the best defence in the world, but clean sheets on the road have not been easy to come by. The Gunners lost 1-0 at Liverpool and then had to come from 1-0 down to beat Newcastle 2-1 at St James’ Park. Fulham have also scored at least once in six of seven top-flight matches this season, including every home game.

Player to score or assist – Eberechi Eze @ 2.20

Eze will likely be tasked with filling the void left by Odegaard – and you could not ask for a better replacement. The playmaker scored from off the bench in England’s 5-0 win over Latvia on Tuesday, and was a constant threat in Arsenal’s previous two Premier League games vs Newcastle and West Ham. Eze has already recorded two top-flight assists this season, and we are backing him to increase his contributions tally at Craven Cottage.

Anytime goalscorer – Viktor Gyokeres @ 2.20

Gyokeres is on a bit of a goal drought, but his performances in an Arsenal shirt of late have been very promising. His sheer presence and physicality have helped afford more space to the likes of Eze and Saka, while the runs in behind are being found more often. It looks only a matter of time before Gyokeres is back on the scoresheet and delivering consistently, and after a frustrating international break with Sweden, Bernd Leno and the Fulham back-line may face the striker’s wrath.
