NBA 2025/26 Preview

Like last season, the Western side of the Conferences is viewed as the stronger, with the Thunder billed as favourites after their record-breaking 2024-25 campaign. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren is a core of players which is rightly envied by so many others in the NBA, with Gilgeous-Alexander the reigning MVP.

The Rockets are another team to watch out for in this division after the signing of veteran superstar Kevin Durant, while the evergreen LeBron James enters his 23rd NBA season, supported at the LA Lakers by the magnificent Luka Doncic.

James’ storyline is always a big talking point ahead of the start of a season, especially as this could be his last given he is now 40 years of age.

And keep an eye out for the San Antonio Spurs, who could be the dark horses in the Western Conference thanks to a well-crafted and exciting roster, spearheaded by an MVP elect in French star Victor Wembanyama.

Moving on to the Eastern side of the league, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks each look like solid outfits, capable of pushing on for glory.

And Orlando Magic – who reached the 2024-25 Playoffs – may prove to be tricky opponents once again, and they enter their first fixture vs the Chicago Bulls on the back of four consecutive pre-season wins.

Of course, last term’s finalists in the Indiana Pacers will look to emulate their success in 2024-25, though Tyrese Haliburton’s injury picked up in the Finals could hamper their efforts to start this campaign in positive fashion.
