The Ashes 2025/26: Second Test Preview & Betting Tips

The Ashes Second Test Preview

The Ashes is back on our television screens this week as cricket’s biggest Test series heads to Brisbane for a day/night clash.

England are looking to make it 1-1 at the iconic Gabba ground after a demoralising two-day defeat in Perth.

However, the Three Lions have not beaten Australia in the Brisbane heat since 1986, and their record against the pink ball is not that great either.

But when it comes to the mercurial leadership duo of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, anything feels possible.

So here is our full betting preview for the Second Test, and we have picked out some cricket betting tips based on our latest offering of odds. Check out the latest Australia vs England odds right here!

Where can I watch the Second Test between Australia and England in the UK?

The Second Ashes Test will be broadcast live on TNT Sports, with play scheduled to start at 4am UK time each day.

Australia vs England: Second Test Preview

England’s BazBallers were really put to the sword in Perth by a swashbuckling innings from Travis Head (TravBall, if you will).

The all-format star was moved to the top of the order for Australia’s second batting attempt, and hit 123 runs off just 83 balls to help the hosts chase down a fairly modest total – and secure an eight-wicket victory.

So now the pressure is on this trailblazing England side more than ever, because falling 2-0 behind Down Under is a scenario which is virtually impossible to come back from.

It will take something special to avoid that, though. The Three Lions’ last Test victory anywhere on Aussie soil came back in 2010/11, and even during that famous series, the team failed to win in Brisbane!

Team News

Captain Pat Cummins could make his long-awaited return to the team, so Australia will be naming their XI at the toss in the early hours of tomorrow morning. However, Usman Khawaja and Josh Hazelwood are certain to miss out through injury.

England’s Confirmed XI: Crawley, Duckett, Pope, Root, Brook, Stokes, Smith, Jacks, Atkinson, Carse, Archer.

Australia vs England: Second Test Betting Tips

Top bowler – Mitchell Starc @ 3.75

Starc took 10 wickets in Perth, and looks as good as he ever has in the Test arena. Furthermore, his record with the pink ball is absurd. The Aussie legend has taken 81 wickets in day/night Tests at an average of 17.03 – and a strike rate of 33.3! Ridiculous historical numbers that make this selection all the more appealing.

Top batter – Harry Brook @ 7.50

There is a lot more risk attached to this tip, given Brook’s woeful second-innings dismissal for a duck in Perth. The English star’s wafty drive to Scott Boland was arguably the poorest shot of a crazy day, but his first-innings knock of 52 was evidence of his undeniable quality. If Brook can absorb pressure at the right time, and then utilise his unique attacking game, there is no reason why he cannot finish this Test with plenty more runs on his record.
