Burnley vs Manchester United – Premier League 2025/26 Match Preview & Betting Tips

It has been a quiet start to the week at Manchester United…

Of course it has not! Yesterday morning, Ruben Amorim was relieved of his duties as manager after challenging the club board in a press conference following the 1-1 draw at Leeds.

To say it was a messy end for the Portuguese coach would be something of an understatement, but United’s focus now switches to Wednesday night’s trip to Burnley.

Darren Fletcher will take interim charge of the Red Devils at Turf Moor, and we have previewed the Scotsman’s first game in the hot-seat, picking out some betting tips from the latest Premier League odds.

Burnley vs Manchester United Preview

Recent results

United’s aforementioned draw at Elland Road means it is just one win in five Premier League contests, which was the 1-0 victory over Newcastle on Boxing Day. The Red Devils have won only three of their away fixtures this season, but did claim victories at Liverpool (1-2) and Crystal Palace (1-2).

Burnley’s last match saw them lose 2-0 at Brighton, their 11th straight game without a win – a concerning record indeed. Scott Parker’s side have collected just two successes at Turf Moor all season, the last of them coming way back in October (2-0 vs Leeds). Perhaps more worryingly, the Clarets have netted only eight home goals, the lowest total in the division.

Head-to-head record

United beat Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford earlier in the season, extending an eight-match unbeaten run against the Clarets across all competitions.

Burnley have won only two matches vs the Red Devils in the Premier League era, though did claim a memorable 2-0 away triumph back in January 2020.

Team news

Josh Cullen has joined a busy Burnley medical room, which includes Zian Flemming, Jordan Beyer, Joe Worrall, Connor Roberts and Zeki Amdouni. Centre-back Maxime Esteve is also a major doubt for this one, while Lyle Foster, Axel Tuanzebe and Hannibal Mejbri are at AFCON.

As for United, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo could return to the matchday squad, but defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire are unlikely to make their long-awaited comebacks. Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui are at AFCON.

Burnley vs Manchester United Betting Tips

Player to score or assist – Matheus Cunha @ 2.45

With Mbeumo and Fernandes out, Cunha has taken on the role of United’s talisman in recent weeks. The Brazilian scored the equaliser vs Leeds, and his willingness to shoot (55 shots in total this season) makes him the perfect candidate in this market.

Jaidon Anthony to have over 0.5 shots on target @ 1.73

Speaking of shots on goal, Anthony has been Burnley’s main man in that regard this campaign. The winger has tallied 18 shots on goal overall, with nine of them hitting the target and four resulting in goals. With United’s defence ravaged by injuries, the price on offer here looks fantastic.

Florentino Luis to commit over 1.5 fouls @ 2.00

All-action midfielder Luis has been prone to the odd foul in 2025-26. In fact, the summer signing has committed 22 of them in 16 matches, and at evens, this selection looks too good to turn down.
