Fenerbahce vs Aston Villa Preview
Recent results
After losing 3-1 at Dinamo Zagreb on Matchday 1, Fenerbahce are unbeaten in five Europa League games, winning three of those contests against Nice (2-1), Stuttgart (1-0), and Brann (0-4) on Matchday 6. Prior to the win at Brann, Fener had drawn two consecutive matches vs Viktoria Plzen (0-0) and Ferencvaros (1-1).
Domestically, Fenerbahce have also been fairly good of late, winning each of the last three in the Super Lig and lifting the Turkish Super Cup on January 10 after beating Galatasaray 2-0 in the final.
As for Villa, they bounced back brilliantly from the shock 2-1 loss at Go Ahead Eagles on Matchday 3, reeling off three straight European victories over Maccabi Tel-Aviv (2-0), Young Boys (2-1) and FC Basel (1-2).
However, Emery’s men arrive in Turkey on the back of a surprise 1-0 home defeat to Everton in the Premier League, which means the Villans have won just one of the last four in the top flight following the 4-1 loss at Arsenal and a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace. That run will be of concern to supporters, despite a 2-1 win at Tottenham in the FA Cup Third Round.
Head-to-head record
Fenerbahce and Aston Villa’s only two competitive meetings were back when the Europa League was known as the UEFA Cup. In the 1977-78 edition of the tournament, Villa won 4-0 at home, and then claimed a 2-0 victory in Turkey two weeks later.
Team news
Fenerbahce are missing Archie Brown, Levent Mercan and Sebastian Szymanski due to injury. Furthermore, January signings Matteo Guendouzi, Anthony Mubasa and Mert Gunok are ineligible here, though Jhon Duran is in line to face his former club. The Colombian striker is joined by plenty of other ex-Premier League stars at the Istanbul club, including Ederson, Fred and Nelson Semedo.
As for Villa, the injury situation in midfield is not looking good, with John McGinn’s premature exit vs Everton seeing him join Boubacar Kamara, Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley on the sidelines. Jadon Sancho may return from his bout of illness, though.

Fenerbahce vs Aston Villa Betting Tips
Player to score or assist – Marco Asensio @ 1.88
Duran is not the only ex-Villa player who will be wearing Fenerbahce colours tomorrow evening. Asensio joined on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain over the summer, and has taken to Turkish football like a duck to water. The Spaniard boasts a record of eight goals and five assists from 14 Super Lig appearances, which is seriously impressive. And with Villa’s midfield ravaged by injury, Asensio must surely fancy his chances of hurting his former employer – and recording a first contribution in this season’s Europa League.
Anytime goalscorer – Talisca @ 2.40
Despite not being a striker by trade, Talisca has been Fenerbahce’s most prolific player in 2025-26. He is the joint-second top scorer in the Super Lig with 11 goals from 18 appearances, while the Brazilian has also netted four times in five Europa League games. Keeping Talisca quiet has been a tall order for most teams, and we are backing Villa to be his latest victim.
Draw no bet – Fenerbahce @ 1.86
Villa’s aforementioned injury issues in the middle of the park make this an even tougher night’s work. Fenerbahce is a tough place to go at the best of times, but far worse when you are missing your captain (McGinn) and main holding midfielder (Kamara). So a positive result for the hosts looks firmly on the cards, though playing things a bit safer may be worthwhile, as Villa still have the likes of Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers available!
