Barcelona vs FC Copenhagen: Anytime goalscorer – Raphinha @ 1.67
Barca are ninth in the table and outside the Top 8 by virtue of an inferior goal difference. So Hansi Flick’s men need a big win on Matchday 8, which is certainly on the cards against one of the tournament’s weaker sides. Copenhagen are 26th and battling for a play-off spot, but a record of 17 goals conceded in seven matches is a worrying one ahead of a trip to Catalonia. Barca have scored 18 goals in this season’s competition, and we are backing one of their main men to get off the mark in Europe when Copenhagen visit. Raphinha scored in last Sunday’s 3-0 win over Real Oviedo, and has eight goals in his last nine appearances across all competitions.
Tottenham to beat Eintracht Frankfurt and both teams to score @ 3.21
Despite their struggles in the Premier League, Spurs are on the cusp of reaching the Round of 16. A win in Frankfurt – a feat they achieved in last season’s Europa League – would be enough. Thomas Frank is contending with numerous injuries, but last week’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund was a reminder that Spurs are still a capable side. Furthermore, Eintracht are six matches without a win, scoring 12 goals but conceding 16 in that run. A 3-2 loss at Qarabag last time out means there is no chance of them reaching the play-offs, so only pride is left to play for. Spurs can capitalise on that, and help extend Frankfurt’s record of scoring in their last four defeats.
Arsenal to score over 3.5 goals vs Kairat Almaty @ 1.70
After a 3-2 loss to Manchester United, Mikel Arteta will demand a response in this match, even though qualification is secured. And against the tournament’s lowest-ranked side, the Gunners should be able to strut their stuff at the Emirates. Arsenal are the joint-highest scorers with 20 goals, netting three or more times in each of the last five – a run started with a 4-0 home win over Atletico Madrid. Kairat have also conceded the joint-most goals (19) in the competition, losing 4-1 to Club Brugge last time out. Backing a comfortable Arsenal win looks like the way to go here.
Liverpool vs Qarabag: Anytime goalscorer – Dominik Szoboszlai @ 2.63
Szoboszlai is on a hot streak, and in the betting world, siding with an in-form player is usually a wise move to make. The Hungary international has scored in each of the last three Champions League matches after a dominant display in Marseille last week, and he was also on target in the Reds’ 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth on the weekend. Liverpool need a win to confirm their Top 8 status, so expect little rotation for Qarabag’s visit, which means another start for Szoboszlai. Qarabag – who are 18th and all but guaranteed a play-off spot – have conceded the joint-most goals (15) among teams currently in the Top 24, and are without a clean sheet in seven matches. Szoboszlai and his team-mates should have a field day at Anfield!
Manchester City vs Galatasaray: Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.75
We expect Man City to win this match, but with new signing Marc Guehi still ineligible for the competition, Pep Guardiola’s side may struggle to keep a clean sheet due to the ongoing absences of Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias. The Citizens’ 3-1 loss at Bodo/Glimt really helps to back up that point, and also the fact they have kept just one clean sheet in the last six Champions League matches. And with Galatasaray boasting some formidable attacking players, including Victor Osimhen and ex-City winger Leroy Sane, the visiting side should join in with the goal-scoring fun at the Etihad.
