Napoli vs Chelsea – Champions League 2025/26 Match Preview & Betting Tips

Chelsea will look to cement their place in the Top 8 of the League Phase when they travel to Naples tomorrow evening.

And the Blues will come up against a former manager in Antonio Conte at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, with the Italian guiding Napoli to Serie A glory last season.

But the Neapolitans have struggled in the 2025-26 Champions League, so much so that a place in even the play-offs looks quite unlikely ahead of kick-off.

There is a lot on the line here, and we have previewed Napoli vs Chelsea in full, picking out some sports betting tips based on NetBet’s Champions League odds.

Napoli vs Chelsea Preview

Recent results

Napoli could only muster a 1-1 draw at FC Copenhagen last week, which means Conte’s side have won just two European matches all season – and sit 25th with only eight points on the board. The successes did come at home against Sporting Lisbon (2-1) and Qarabag (2-0), with the other match in Naples a 0-0 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Chelsea beat Pafos 1-0 at Stamford Bridge last time out in this competition to move up to eighth in the table with 13 points, but the Blues have really struggled on the road. A 3-1 loss at Bayern Munich was followed by a 2-2 draw at Qarabag and a 2-1 defeat vs Atalanta.

However, Liam Rosenior’s men impressed away from home on the weekend, recording a 3-1 win at Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

In contrast, Napoli enter this fixture on the back of a damaging 3-0 loss at Juventus, making it just one win from five in Serie A – a run which includes disappointing home draws vs Hellas Verona (2-2) and Parma (0-0).

Head-to-head record

Napoli and Chelsea’s only Champions League meetings came in 2011-12. The two sides faced off in the Round of 16, with the Blues somehow emerging victorious after suffering a 3-1 loss in Italy. Chelsea won 4-1 at Stamford Bridge AET, securing a 5-4 aggregate victory on their way to lifting the trophy for the first time.

Team news

Key winger David Neres and No1 goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic have sadly joined a busy Napoli treatment room, which also includes other major first-team names such as Matteo Politano, Amir Rrahmani, Frank Anguissa, Billy Gilmour and Kevin De Bruyne. An injury crisis has come at the worst possible time for Conte, with ex-Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku only recently returning from a long-term issue.

Cole Palmer is a doubt for Chelsea after missing the weekend trip to Palace, while Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo and Romeo Lavia are out of contention. But the rest of the Blues squad looks in good shape.

Napoli vs Chelsea Betting Tips

Player to score or assist – Scott McTominay @ 2.20

Chelsea have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine away matches across all competitions. With that in mind, a Napoli goal looks on the cards, and McTominay is usually the man who conjures up the magic. He has four goals and one assist from seven Champions League appearances this season, so the Scotsman could make a mockery of the odds here.

Joao Pedro to have over 0.5 shots on target @ 2.00

In our humble opinion, you won’t find many better Champions League selections at evens this week. Pedro has operated as Chelsea’s centre forward in the last two Premier League games against Brentford and Palace, scoring in each of them. The Brazilian was also on target in the 2-1 loss at Atalanta, and with Napoli needing to win this game, he should be afforded plenty of space in the final third.

Moises Caicedo to commit over 2.5 fouls @ 2.63

Caicedo is certainly no stranger to making a foul. In fact, the Ecuadorian enforcer has committed 15 in his last six Premier League appearances, an average very close to three. And with Champions League referees perhaps less lenient than those in England, we fancy this selection to land.
